Title: Walborn Crappie 11/25
Post by: slabslayer on November 25, 2013, 02:51:17 PM
Made a trade for an old Sears and Roebuck flat bottom boat last Wednesday and its been on top of my truck since.  Finally work was slow enough to ditch this afternoon and head out fishin' at Walborn!  ;D  Windy as could be, very cold even with my Arctic Armour suit on.  But the fishing was HOT!!  ;D ;D  Stayed for 2 hours till I couldn't feel my feet, I was ill prepared for that type of cold and wind.  Was using tinsel jigs and tubes around the bridge pilings, got to 10 feet or so and BAM! fish on every cast.  When the action slowed down I changed colors and it was on again.  Got over 30 fish in about an hour and 45 minutes.  Biggest was 12 inches, most were 8-10 1/2 inches with a few dinks thrown in.  Would've got more if I could've felt my hands, I had to watch the line, which was tough in a gale! ;)  Didn't keep any, but here are the pics:

Pics resized!  ;)  Fishing is good there right now.  Can't get there again tomorrow, but am going to shoot for Wednesday sometime.  The fallen timber south of the launch ramp in 15 feet of water is a good area, as are the pilings on the bridge.  Just need to experiment with size, color, and retrieve.  My best today was a black/chartreuce tube on a 1/32 oz jighead with a VERY SLOW lift/drop reteieve.  My fish were in 10 feet of water, and they hit on the fall after I brought the tube up thru the school.  Wouldn't bite any other way.  Hope this helps.
