Title: Ice Plastics.....
Post by: Downthehole on December 12, 2016, 08:36:56 PM
To break up the apprehension on ice conditions I though I'd post this question:

Does anyone use plastics when ice fishing?
(I bought some Clam Maki Plastics today out of curiosity)
How successful have you been with them?
Have you had better success with plastics compared to spikes, waxes or minnow?

Just wondering....

I love them!!!  I have 3 boxes of the micro plastics. I have tons of different colors and profiles to try and match forage. Many days they will outperform live bait. Especially on the bigger fish. I've noticed many times I don't get quite as many on them, but the overall size is much bigger. You don't get the 3" dinks hitting on them too much.  Late fall for crappie that's all I use. Don't even touch live bait and have been getting crappie routinely over 12" on the trips I've taken. So yes they're worth it!!
But I also carry some spikes and waxies as backups. Sometimes you just need that little love bait.
