Title: wellington upground???
Post by: swedish nipple on December 28, 2017, 04:41:51 PM
Anyone been able to lay eyes on the upground?
Wondering if it locked up or if the wind/geese kept it open.
Usually takes a little longer for the perched reservoirs to lock up

I'm going to stop by on my way home to look at it. I love living less than 10 minutes from it.

It's locked up and has some tracks heading out. I'll be heading there tomorrow.

Fished for about 4 hours. Picked up enough fish to keep it exciting, though nothing huge.

Fished Wellington again last evening until about 9:30. Started fast and furious and then died off as the evening progressed. As we were packing up we saw maybe another 4 groups heading out on to the ice. We fished in 12'-27' and most of the fish came in the deeper water.

Looking to go Wednesday morning if anybody wants to go. Just getting into ice fishing I'm from Florida but I'm stationed up here. Not trying to invade anybody's space but I'd be grateful for some tips for Wellington upground.

Little tip on wellington. The map shows no depths, so look on google earth you can zoom in on the lake. You can see the weed lines, and the island. Good starting point. Other than that, jig and waxie or maggot has being producing, 6 to 12in off bottom. Try around the boat ramp and west of ramp should put ya on some fish. Good luck im there quite a bit.
