Title: Ice conditions
Post by: LAWMAN60 on January 23, 2018, 12:25:09 AM
Hello all,
It's been so long since I've been hear, I had to set a new password. All I want to know is how the ice is as of now, Jan 23, 2018. I know I could drive out and check myself, but to be honest, I've just been well enough to do so. But I just can't stand it any longer. I HAVE JUST GOT TO GET OUT ICE FISHING!!! Ice fishing has always been my passion, but it's been at least 4 years since I've been able to get out. I had planned to leave last Friday before dark, and take my little stealth camper so I could have a warm bed and a hot meal, and stay out until I was fished out or Wednesday. But time after time I was stopped in my tracks for one reason or an other. I don't even know how much ice it had prier to this warm spell. My hope is that it's still good enough to get out at least once!
I'm not asking for tips, hot spots, or even fishing reports. I just need to know if it's still safe enough for this 220 lb man and equipment.
I would be so grateful for the information! I'm retired now and if I don't get out of this house soon, I'm going to start to melt down!
Thank you deeply to anyone who can help me out.

Welcome back Lawman. Good to hear the ole ice fishing juices are still flowing in those old bones.  Ice should be ok.

Hello,

I was thinking of taking my wife and daughter out this weekend to Mosquito. We're new to ice fishing, I wanted to check with some of you pros to see if you'll think the Ice will be safe Saturday (2/10/18) and any advice/locations i should try. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

Check in at causeway sporting goods, they can give you some direction and will have all your bait needs to help you on your trip.
