Pretty much all I ever use - Hali Ice Spoons.
Usually run a small nymph or fly about 12-18" above it.
Kinda odd looking, but they work welll. Decent weight too.
Tip 'em with maggot, waxie or minnow head.

Punderson this year, no question.
The place is swarming with trout.
Go out, get your five and have fun.

Oh, stay close to sure, no need to go far either.

Hmm. What size Pfefferkorn is it.
I like mine, but it's a little cramped.

I guarantee there are bigger in Erie.

There are. Most are down by Buffalo though.
Heard 16"'s aren't uncommon there!

Did you know the state record is 2 5/8#?
That one is close!

I'm guessing Mohawk is a private lake from what I looked up?

My 2 cents - I LOVE my camera.

BUT, I've been using it in shallower lakes not much deeper that 12 ft max.
With deeper water, I think I'd be more inclined to use my flasher.

So far, I've had great water clarity for it except at Bass Lake.
Water was rather cloudy. You wouldn't see the fish til it was 1-2 ft away.

I've even had it out on Erie in the summer. If it's not too choppy, you can see alot out there. Saw several anchors and lines laying on the bottom out by the crib.

My go to lure (usually with a small fly or ant about a foot above it) -

I usually lower the camera down and watch the screen. I like to stop about a foot off bottom. Some lakes, you hit bottom and stir up a big cloud of sediment. Made a circular disk with a slot and an old handle that fits over the hole. Feed camera line through slot and secure with a small clip.
Then all you need to do, is rotate it ( and the camera) with the handle till you see your lure. No matter what you do, it is a little tedious to get set up just right.

I've seen crappie whack them after some violent (2ft+ lifts) jigging.
The next week, a few soft lifts, then I'd hold it real steady, give it the
slightest quiver, and bam!

Small Pond Reports / Seneca Ponds - 1/25
« on: January 27, 2014, 01:50:27 PM »
Decided to hit some less- fished water and dragged the old shanty out to Seneca Ponds.
Not too bad.
Saw tons of little gills.
Caught a few big gills, three bass (lost a few too), a pretty channel cat
and some dinky gills.
12"+ of solid ice, water was very clear.
Wish I woulda took a few more pics.
