Alum Creek / Re: Fishing the dam??
« on: February 05, 2015, 03:00:41 PM »
I've fished near the dam in years past doesn't seen to have thinner ice. But as always carry a spud bar. I could be close by this Saturday and Sunday if I see someone I'll come out and say hey I'm sure I'll have plenty of time to talk seeing that there are no saugeye in alum ;)

Went out and fished from 6 feet of water to 44 feet of water. In the 44 feet of water there was a road bed bridge and a creek I marked plenty of slow moving fish and caught a couple catfish. I'm going back tonight to try to get some eyes. Let's hope for the best.

I've fished out of Catawba but does mouse island or marble head have safe ice? I never hear of anyone going out of Marblehead.

I'm out on Fairfield now with 7-8" ice. How deep were you at north shore? Were you just off the rocks?

Caught one hog today in 22 ft of water early but nothing all day. We are out about 2.7 miles out of Catawba. Does anyone do good close to shore at night?

Last night we got a few keepers let them go though fishinsam got a big one no measurement and I can't post the picture but I'll figure it out by the end of the night. We caught a ton of short cigar sized saugeye hopefully we get into more hogs today!

Out again today the wind is howling and the ice is extremely spotty but we are sitting on 4" of clear ice in front of the house island at Fairfield it took us about an hour to spud our way out. Behind us towards the marsh is very dangerous 1" of crust ice in spots. Sunday or Monday could be when it's all ready. We've landed some dandy saugeye I'll post pictures later.
