Boy, I’ve missed you all! This year has been a disaster for me (more to follow) BUT! I can’t wait to be sat on docks with everyone, having a laugh, waiting for the ice and then ice fishing again! Andy!

Indian Lake / Indian Lake Update - 1/21/2019
« on: January 21, 2019, 05:07:31 PM »
All,

The lake looked a lot better today. This morning when I woke it was -14F so a fair amount of ice will have built overnight. It’s been in the single digits all day too.

Anyway, at Long Island first pull-off folks were fishing out on the main lake close to the island. At 3rd pull-off there were a couple of guys fishing on the right hand side as you look towards the bridge. I didn’t see anyone at North Fork.

As ever, I’m letting you know what I saw. Conditions may change quickly and if you go out please use all safety precautions.

Indian Lake / Indian Lake Update - 1/20/2019

All,

There were folks fishing at Long Island 1st pull-off when I checked things today. They were fishing at the end of the channel that leads out onto the main lake. One of the guys said the ice was 3-4” thick.

The sides at 3rd pull off are still pretty dodgy (slush under 6-8” of snow)

The lake is pretty clear of snow due to high winds we had over the weekend. However; the sides do have a build up on them.

I’m expecting by Thursday we’ll have a lot better ice conditions. Some of the more sheltered areas may have fishable ice now. As always this is what I saw today. Conditions may change quickly and if you are going out, take care and use all precautions to keep safe!

Indian Lake / Indian Lake Update - 12/10/2018
« on: December 10, 2018, 03:33:28 PM »
Hi All,

I heard a report of folks being out on the ice at Indian Lake. There are no signs of anyone being out at Long Island 1st, 2nd, 3rd pull off - not even spud bar marks in the ice.

I checked the ice at my dock and the chisel went through in a single hit. I chiseled some ice out and it?s 1-1/4? thick.

I?ll start posting updates as we get into the cold weather..

Yeah, I’m done too, gear is put away. The ice melt on Indian Lake has been fast over the past couple of days. Time for some bank fishing methinks....

Product and Tackle Reviews / Re: Tyepro Jig/Hook Tying Tool

Watched the video and it looks pretty good.  How much did you pick it up at the show for?  They have it on their site for 15.00 which doesn't seem bad.  Didn't check on shipping though.

Thanks Andy

They were selling for $16.00 not sure what shipping would be from the site...

Product and Tackle Reviews / Tyepro Jig/Hook Tying Tool
« on: February 18, 2018, 10:41:20 AM »
All,

I used to think that tying tools shown on tv ads were a little gimmicky until I got the TyePro at the Expo. My eyes are not as good as they used to be and threading line through small jigs can be challenging at times (especially in low light conditions on the lake).

Here’s a vid shown it the tool

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=9fXnas2lYkI

I’ve also posted a pic of it.

I’ve been using to tool since the Expo and think it’s great. The vid shows how to tie knots with it but, just using it to thread jigs and small hooks speeds things up remarkably. I tie palomar knots usually and it’s simple using the tool.

2 thumbs up from me...

Indian Lake / Re: 2017/2018 grand finale!
« on: February 15, 2018, 04:59:30 PM »
Got out the last 2 days. Fished late morning until dark on tue. Started slow but got pretty good towards dark. Me and a buddy ended up with 35 crappie, 2 eyes and 5 keeper gills. Back out wed at daylight with Bryan78 and another friend joined us later. It was on fire. Had a limit of crappie by 1030. Caught and released prob 15 to 20 more keepers. Also had 10 nice gills. Both guys I was with got their limit too. Switched over to saugeye and started marking em right off but couldn't get bit on any color pimple or vibe. Dug through the tackle box and put on a tiny little jigging shad rap in black/silver. Got bit almost immediately. As it got later in the day the eyes really fired up. Ended up catching 8 keepers(I only kept 6) and at least a half dozen shorts. Limit+ of crappie and eyes in the same day! I have never seen a bite like that. It was awesome.
I'm not going to post location and hesitated to even post report because I don't want people trying to get out after today. The ice is melting top and bottom and after 60 and rain today I would not try to get back on. As mentioned in other posts someone had to be rescued last night. And he was in what's usually one of the safest areas. I am done for the year... but what a way to go out!  ;D

Well done! It was good to see you last night. I drove to the spot we were in this evening - it’s toast.......

Product and Tackle Reviews / Hawk Bucket Seat
« on: February 15, 2018, 06:15:56 AM »
I bought a Hawk Bucket Seat from Fishermans Warehouse at the Expo. I’ve been using it for the past couple of nights, while fishing, and have to say that it’s very comfortable. The seat snaps onto a 5gal bucket and swivels which gives some freedom of movement. I had a padded bucket seat and the Hawk seat is way more comfortable.

Good job Andy. I fished Paradise tonight. Marked some fish but no bites. My buddy caught 1 short. 18 people fishing and I saw 1 barely legal and 2 shorts caught. ODNR was checking fishing licenses. Hoping to try Paradise again tomorrow. Are you going to try Dunns tomorrow? If so, maybe I will meet you there. Almost forgot, I was told orange was the color people were at least getting bites on, all using pimples.

Hi Grant, I’ll come over to paradise this evening after work....

Went to the show Saturday and met a few of you guys at the ice fish Ohio booth,  it’s always good to be able to meet up with others who are on the web site and put a face to a name. The show was pretty crowded and made it hard to move around, but I still managed to find a few good bargains  ::)

It was great to meet you too!
