... will most likely take a drive around Portage Lakes to see if the cold temps last night locked up all rain & melted snow from the last couple of days.

Mostly interested in Turkeyfoot, Mud, East & Nimisila... but will drive by some of the others.

May even take a spud bar to check it out.

Will post my findings later today, 1/2/2010

If good, I plan on drilling holes Monday morning.. most likely Turkeyfoot or Nimmy.

General Discussion / Odd Day Ice Fishing at Turkeyfoot Lake (Portage Lakes)
« on: December 31, 2010, 03:16:21 PM »
Friday 12/31/2010 Hit the ice at dawn with my icing bud, Ed.  We hadnt drilled holes in Turkeyfoot in 5 yrs and wanted to target some perch.

I set up my 6 tip-ups and we proceeded to hunt those boys down. Sad to say, the catch wasn't spectacular, but very odd.

Both of us landed just 10 fish apiece, but all 10 were very nice fish...and 4 species to boot.
1 Slab Sunfish
2 nice 10" Crappie
2 nice Perch
5 Nice Bull Bluegill

The Tip-Ups were a bust...  Didnt get anything on them.
Better luck next time.  We'll be back!
