Hello, I did a upgrade two seasons ago on my big buddy heater. It just died on my last trip out so I'll now charge it. The upgrade was four 18650 lithium batteries. It runs at 7.4v and it is 4amp hrs. The heater is 6v but this has not hurt the heater and it runs a little faster. You can get the 18650 battery holder on line. I got two and half seasons out of it before my first charge.

I didn't go out yesterday or to day. The ice may not be safe after today. Delaware has a lot of water flowing in it. The water level rises fast and the dam can drain it just as fast. If you do push your luck!!! Please have (experience & safety equipment) and a change of clothes in your  vehicle.

I fished the 18th,19th, and 20. I drilled maybe 70 holes over the 3 day scout. Set up on the fish each day and fished it from the morning in to the later p.m. hours. There was mark's the hole time I was there. The fish was all over the water columns and would follow it up and down sit and stare at it. I dropped half my gear down the holes but could not get it done. I end my trips with a 4" white bass and a 7" crappie. I'm not putting my gear up with my experience we are not done yet. I looked at marks the hole time like this and look forward to trying it again.

Delaware Reservoir / Ice report
« on: January 19, 2018, 12:21:12 AM »
There is ten feet of shelf ice down to the edge. The lake has 1-1/2" of snow on it with 3 or 4" of white ice on top of 3 to 4" of clear ice . Some of the edges look wet. (Please note) Delaware has lots of springs in it and some are out of the water of the edges and a spring in four feet of water may only be 3 to 4" of (white bad ice!) So please be safe out there. There is lots of fish in there you just got to find them. Happy looking and have fun.

Ya, I see your point's if you fish it ever day and you see the drop. I fish it 2 to 3 times a season for gills. It's a good year if I get a 100 for the year there. I don't see me being the issue there. There is a new issue that has not been considered. Your lake now has shovel heads in it and they'll destroy a lake. Then there's the oldest issue. (Stop fishing it every day). Lol, I'm lucky to fish 20 time's a year but I'll try not to catch them all hehe. I'm beat it was a long day on Delaware.

Runs me $50 to $80 to go over to India lake. I don't do this for sport this is how I put food on the table. So when you start talking bout limits on Gil's your talking food off my table. Slot limit will work but if I can only keep say 10 Gil's for what it cost then what's the point. If you look over the law's there is a  limit of 10 any lake under a certain acreage. I don't fish up to killdeer on 33 do to this. It's not worth my time or money to go there. I'm hopefully you see my point.

Thanks, Andy I'll look them over but I'm not new to ice fishing. Been doing this since I was six months old and I'm 39 now. My pro tip to all the newbes is invest in a float suit and have a bag of dry clothes.

Hello, I trolled this site for years. Now I'm being more active. I will be looking at Delaware tomorrow. If I can get on it I will give a report on the ice. If anyone gets out there I'll be the guy in the old red & white truck with a green cap. Maybe I'll see some of you out there.

        P.S
               (Norton sporting goods)
Do not have minnows for ice season.
They do have wax worms and red worms
