Forgive my attempt to "nail this down" a little better, but exactly "where" are we talking about `1st ice` ? Along the shore of the pond closest to Lake Erie, the south bank of the lower Ohio River...? My guess for CJ Brown would be Dec 19th for skim ice and about Christmas Eve for SAFE ice...(I wish !)

It's the date of the first person to ice fish on at least 4" of ice anywhere in Ohio. Hopefully that person is me!
