pan fish and eyes
« on: January 25, 2015, 08:16:09 PM »

fished North Fork yesterday morning, marked fish caught 1 six inch eye, moved to Pony Island , did pretty good on the pan fish, stayed there til dark . Went to North Fork this morning, caught 1 eye ,lost 1 at the hole, marked fish until about 10 am then ghost town. Went to the back side of pony island around noon, when I got there literally everyone walked off the ice and went elsewhere. With only 3-4 feet of water and everyone walking around they must have had the fish spooked because 10 or so minutes when they left I pulled 6 crappies in less than a half hour, caught a few more along with some gills. Moved back to North Fork for the evening bite, with the snow and wind hammering down I only managed to catch 1 saugeye. Game warden showed up, looked at my fish and they (2 wardens) said that was the best catch they looked at so far today. Glad I didn't win a ticket

I been thinking about trying some fishing on this lake but never fished hard water there. Always fished it with a boat. I was thinking about trying the eyes at North Fork myself but wasn't sure about parking. I don't want to walk miles to fish. Any advice of places to park close to the good fishing spots on the lake?

Thanks for the post. Better than we did on the big pond.

You can park with very little trouble on Lake Breeze Dr. from O'Connor's. It's also easy to access from the long Island pull-offs on 273.
