The Contest

Throughout the Month of November, share your best fishing pictures and their stories for a chance to score some swag! I'll be sharing great gear from Vexilar, Clam, Vicious and your friends at Ice Fish Ohio and the Columbus Fishing Expo!

Guidelines For Entry

1. Create one post in this contest thread.
2. Include your photo and the story behind it.
3. Entries must be submitted by Friday, December 1, 2017, at 7:00 pm to be considered.
4. You must be in attendance at the first weekly dock tournament in December in order to collect your prize. (Prizes will not be shipped.)
5. Any submission deemed inappropriate on the basis of image or language will result in disqualification from the contest.

Selection Process & Notification

A collective of Ice Fish Ohio members will vote for their favorite picture and story. I believe this will ensure a level playing field. Try to be creative and fun with your entries! I will acknowledge the winner of the contest at the weigh-in of that weekend's dock tournament.

Took the daughter's boyfriend out fishing to get to know him a bit. He caught an 18 inch Bass so I said I would catch 2 Bass. This is the pic of the bigger of the two. I showed him I do what I say I will.

Took two of the grandsons on a 4 day camping trip to Geneva State Park. On the third day I took them on their first Erie trip. The one apparently hadn't slept well the night before. He caught a perch and said "Now I am not skunked so I am going to sleep" and laid down on the bench and fell asleep. Here he is with his perch. That is his cousin beside him.

Ok Ryan I've got an entry for you... This picture was taken 100+ miles out in the Gulf of Mexico from Tampa. The fish in the picture is known as a porgy. It weighed in at around 18 lbs. Very large for the species. Caught on a 9 Oz spro hair jig tipped with a big piece of squid in about 700 ft of water on the bottom. Was one of dozens of great catches made by the 20 or so guys on the 63 hour trip, including several grouper over 30 lbs. Was the most amazing fishing trip I've ever been on. Oh, and did I mention that this 2 1/2 day trip was taken during my honeymoon? I love my wife so much....Lol

I caught this 17" smallmouth on a small jigging spoon tipped with a minnow during the doctor tournament on the 18th. It was a real thrill catching a fish like it on a icerod with a inline reel. It even made a small leap out of the water. After pictures it was released to give someone else the opportunity to enjoy catching it.

I'm sure by now we have all lost someone special. When it comes down to only pictures remaining I'm glad I have some good ones. Tom was a good friend friend who loved IFO and fishing in general! I have endless stories to tell of times spent on the water. Rest in piece my friend,  you are not forgotten!

You mean pictures before things went south, Carl? Oh the memories we had that day. At least we weren't the boat that was full of chummers. How many people remember hearing that conversation on the radio?

Got this big girl this past spring pre fishing for the Cabela's MWC tournament out of Trenton Michigan. She inhaled a custom bandit purchased from Domka Outdoors. Of course the weather didn't cooperate during the tournament but a great time was had throughout the week.
