Hi All,

Back from a visit to the UK for Christmas. Drove to Long Island at day break and there were a couple of people out but not as many as I expected. Folks were fishing over by O’Connors so it looks like the ice is thick enough to walk out from the Car Park at Long Island.

I’m not planning on going out until after New Year - I’ll keep everyone posted as I drive around the lake from time-to-time...

Went out again...here’s what I saw:

BlackHawk - snowmobile on ice - a good sign
BlackHawk - 15ish trucks in car park
Moundwood - Around 10 folks fishing, split either side of the bridge
Cranberry - Empty
Long Island 1st Pull Off - 3-4 folks fishing
Long Island 2nd Pull Off - Countless folks on the ice (busy area)

So, Indian looks good to go. As always, stay safe!

I had anywhere from 4-5" and as much as 7 in other areas.... the lake was stacked full of people everywhere

How did you do?

caught some crappie and gills early, then caught some saugeyes later in the day, the lake is crowded with people everywhere

I hit the community hole early fri. Had a short on the ice in 5 min and a keeper in 15. Bite was steady but I was having trouble keeping em hooked up. One hole would die off. Drill another. Get a bite or 2. Die off... repeat. Had 5 keepers by 11 or so. Took me until 4 to get the last one. Lol. I was being stubborn and enjoying my first day on the ice this season. All 15-17 inches. Also lost one prob 22 inches after 4 times trying to get him through the hole. Sigh. Caught a few shorts and a catfish too. Vibes and rippin raps. And yes it was very crowded. But a great opener to my season
