I had a question that I submitted to his company and I recieved an email from Jason himself with the answer. The question was why some of his rods came as a combo and some did not and how to attach a reel to a Jason Mitchell Rod.
Here is his answer:
Hi Scott,
Electrical tape, silicone tape or Tommy Tape is the best thing we have found for attaching the reel to the rod as it is more comfortable, sensitive and warmer than fixed rod seats or rings, also this allows you to balance the rod to your hand. We sell rods as combos as a convenience for our customers but many buy just the rod as well. The reasons vary mostly to personal preference. Some anglers already have a favorite reel or want a different style or size of reel than what we assemble on to our combos. We sell both just to give the customers more options.
