Any info on walborn ice thickness?

Wish I could help. That's one of the lakes I regularly fish, but I've been down with the flu this week. Sorry.

I have only duck hunted it never fished it but its close. What kind of fish are in it?

Saugeye, bass, crappie and bluegill. These some big ones in there too, just like Deer Creek. I think Deer Creeks fish tend to run a little bigger, but are a MUCH farther walk to get to.

Any info on where to start? Was thinking between the marina and sand bar hump.

Any of the above mentioned species. Saugeye would be interesting.

Where you said is a good spot for saugeye.  The big crappies hang out along the deep shoreline just down from the launch ramp and fishing pier.  They're in the fallen trees around 9-15 feet of water just a few feet off the bottom you'll mark the crappies!

Forgot to mention 2 other spots.  For saugeyes there's a hole near the dam, in between the two points as you make the left turn to head toward the dam. For crappies, try the beaver dam in the cove on the south side of the lake closest to Reeder Road. Just be careful doing that much moving around, make sure you spud your way!

What's the ice like out there normally? Currents? Spots to watch out for?

Around the bridge and dam area and main channel can be thin at times. If you spud your way around you'll be fine. Just be careful. P.S  sometimes they can be shy biters here, so you may need to downsize your lures and even live offerings. Many times I've got large crappies on a lone maggot on a #12 hook and that's it.  It just kinds of hangs there in the water column. There's great fish in there, but they're more temperamental than at the other lakes in that chain(Berlin and Deer Creek).
