To go until dock fishing starts......can't wait!
-
I agree with you Andy, I can't wait either.
-
Yeah I can't wait to drive halfway across the state to not catch anything. Lol
-
Hopefully we'll have a better season this year!
-
Hahaha Andy, seems like an eternity!
-
Sorry guys. Don't want to rain on the parade, but I have a dock at Alum Creek, and I think that they are replacing them this fall. They want to build the same type of docks that they have at Delaware lake. Bad on two fronts. Docks will not be accessible ( they want the boat owners out after labor day) if they pull them, and if they're the same setup as Delaware, won't be accessible in the winter. Hope I'm wrong on the second. And hope that they don't pull them all at the same time this fall.
-
I hope you are wrong too John. But it is what it is. Will have to go to Rocky Fork then.
-
Hope your wrong to my friend, really would miss driving 2 hours to come visit everyone and get skunked.
-
Yeah. I really enjoy the dock fishing. The tournaments have become a real event that I look forward to. Plus, for me, it's local.
-
I can relate, I really look forward to and enjoy the dock tourneys. The fishing is usually terrible but the companionship is superior. Hope it is a go again this year.
-
Don't worry grant. I'll come hang out with you at rocky ;D
-
We'll just have to change the venue.....
-
Just messaged David to see if he knows about the docks at Alum...
-
I'll be there Aaron. See you there.
-
Well guys, got the bad news in a letter on Friday. Dock holders have to have boats out by September 6th. They're going to pull the docks and start building the new ones. It appears that they are already drawing down. I certainly hope that there is a viable alternative.
-
Well that just sucks!!
-
I called Alum Creek marina and learned the following:
- As soon as the boats are out they are tearing out the old docks
- The boats are coming out 6 weeks early to support the schedule they have
- They are replacing the cable tied docks with docks that ride on piled in posts
- The work could last until Memorial Day next year
There won't be anything to fish off in the fall....time to look for a new place..
Andy
-
I just sent an e-mail to the yacht club to see if they can help....I'll let you know what they respond with....
-
I too look forward to the dock tourneys hopefully Dave or someone will come up with an alternative i like the companionship too if i catch fish or not.
-
The yacht club would be great. Would have to get a key for the gate onto the docks.
-
Looks like I will be fishing Rocky Fork more this year since Alum will be a no go.
-
How's the fishing there g? Shore opportunities?
-
Haven't been skunked there yet. I fish the East Shore boat docks and catch crappies, perch and the rare saugeye. 30inthabucket turned me on to it last year. I need to check out the new docks they put in at Caesar Creek and see if they are going to leave them in all year and if they will allow fishing after the boats are pulled. I'll post when I find out.
-
Sounds good g!
-
And the 1 thing I forgot, no mudpuppies. I know Andy will be sorry to hear that. LOL!!!
-
Hey stop giving away my fishing spots grant! Just kidding. If they can't work something out at alum or another lake I'll be up to do some tournaments at rocky if we can get enough guys together. I know it's quite a drive for a lot of people.
-
Don't worry Aaron, I'll still give you my fish. Hopefully we can find somewhere to have some tourneys. It would be even better if we got fishable ice in early Dec.
-
This is not the way I want early season to start. I may have to come down your way grant.
-
Called Caesar Creek marina to see about dock fishing. Boats have to be pulled by Oct. 15 but no fishing will be allowed, the gates will be locked. So much for it being a public lake. I know they won't get any of my money at the marina.
-
That sucks grant. Guess we'll just take the boat if we want to fish caesars.
-
I'm going to check with the ODNR and see what they have to say.
-
And the 1 thing I forgot, no mudpuppies. I know Andy will be sorry to hear that. LOL!!!
Boo! I miss mudpuppies!
-
Just my luck, I even bought more goodies at the end of last year. I may have to take the boat over and fish from it. I haven't been much into fishing this year. Boats haven't been out at all.
-
Sorry to hear it quack. I haven't been much myself. Seems I have worked on my boat more than using it. Oh well, so it goes. Waiting impatiently for some dock fishing somewhere.
-
Sorry to hear it guys, but to be honest fishing has been slow on the big lake. Good news is we have caught tons of shorts so it looks good for the future haul. I'm ready for the winds of change to blow. Bring on the ice please.
-
Talked with the assistant park manager and he said the docks will not be open to fishing after the boats are pulled.Looks like I will fish Rocky Fork a lot again.
-
I fished them last night with decent success lol. There's no equipment in there yet so until there is I'm fishing!
-
Fished there last night. Fishing good. Started bringing in heavy equipment.
-
Fished them last Saturday and it was awesome! Went back Sunday evening and was told by odnr's finest there was no fishing permitted this time of the year and also in a construction zone. When confronted with a few simple questions I was greeted with I need you to vacate the docks sir.
-
There was a ton of fish in there and bait. Got a few eyes to start the season too!
-
Great to hear you got some decent fish but sorry to hear you had to vacate the docks.
-
You try rocky fork yet Grant?
-
Well guys, they've started. Half of the docks have been pulled. Gas pumps side still in tact. I hope Dave has some luck finding a new location.
-
No, I haven't tried Rocky yet. I wonder if you can fish it with the boats in the docks. The guy from M P Marine fished Rocky last week and didn't do any good crappie fishing from a boat.
-
It's official. Alum creek docks gone.
-
BOO HISS!!!!!
-
Yea it sucks, snuck in there Sat on a boat and it's still loaded with fish!
