Hit Wellington after work Thursday night. Fished for only a few hours from 3:30 til 6:30. Won't give to much info. bc of the Tournament coming up this Saturday. But the conditions were ok with about 8 inches of ice. On top the ice however there was another solid layer of about an inch thick ice from the storm this week. Between the good ice and the storm ice there was an air space, so when you walked on it the ice would collapse down to the good ice. Made for a little tougher travel but nothing that could not be dealt with. The only problem was the slush and water that was on the ice after you broke through. It made for some wet boots and knees. You may want to consider bringing along a spare set of socks, should you have an issue with your feet getting cold. As always, check your ice when venturing out. conditons can and will always change.
As far as fishing, this was the most activity of fish I have seen this year. I say that meaning that as far as fish movement on the camera, there was plenty to be had. We saw numerous schools of crappie swimming by along with a few good sized bass and some bluegill. We have always seen fish on the camera at Wellington but yesterday the fish seemed to be moving the fastest and most I have seen this year. The bite was very light with only a few small bluegill being taken. ER

I made it out Sunday from the State Park. Good Ice, bad report on the fish. Marks were not there, just a few perch but no eyes. Talked to about 15 guys who stopped by the shanty and only one guy had one walleye to show for his effort. Have faith! Better Days are ahead!

Can anyone give me some pointers for Buckeye Lake. I will be down next weekend in the area for a anniversary party and want to fish a new lake. Was hoping for Saugeye spots but a lowdown on the lake would be great as I never fished it before. We are positive we are going to fish Buckeye b/c it is only about ten minutes away from the party and the closest lake, therefore giving us the most time to fish, so any help on this lake would be great. I have a vexilar fl-18 and an Aqua Vu. Is it even worth while to bring the camera?? Its an old black and white model. Thanks

Fishing was ok Sunday. Picked another bass and two small crappie. Have yet to catch a keeper Crappie out of Wellington this year, even though I have seen them on the camera. As far as the fishing itself there, please let me say one thing. I fished there last weekend and when I was going on the ice about 7am, a few guys were coming off and they just left about 5 Mountain Dew cans right on the ice. The amount of garbage left on the ice from pop cans to wrappers to bait containers was pitiful. There was one area were someone actually took a dump on the ice! That is horrible. I ended up picking up alot of the trash and throwing in my bucket. I did not pick up the dump though! Please be mindful of what you leave behind, this is a fishing spot close to many peoples homes and we don't want to lose this one.

Guys, My neighbor has one at a good price used. Have you ever fished out of one?? How are they? Can you use a regular buddy heater in it and stay good and warm?? We want to be able to fish four guys together and this is right up our alley. Let me know we appreciate it.
