I've been asked by many members to organize a ice fish Ohio meet and greet. With a very uncooperative winter at hand I believe a dock gathering would be are best bet. Please reply if you are interested in joining us and we will evaluate what area works for us. Also I would be open to holding one for open water this year on lake Erie on middle bass island,I've got a guide who is interested in working with me and there is a great place to camp and eat right there, please let me know.
-
I'd be in for a dock get together Nate
-
Where at? Cbus or up in Akron area?
-
I'm in....name the place and I'll be there...
-
Depending on time, location, and date I'd be in.
-
A dock tourney would be good. The other sounds possible too.
-
I'd be in as long as the schedule allows
-
got my attention
-
I'm in for both!
-
Getting some good feed back here , throw me a preference Saturday, sunday, mornings or afternoonlet me know what your thinking.
-
Given driving distances it would need to be a later start. N.E means 2hrs from C-Bus, 3hrs from Dayton area. The reverse is true for N.E coming to C-bus or Dayton area. My vote would be a mid-afternoon start with a weigh-in at 8:00pm'ish (That, of course assumes a get together means fishing). I'm also in for a bar, beers, music etc.....
-
Sat. works best for me either way. I am in for either as long as my schedule allows.
-
It doesn't necessarily mean it will be held in the ne, we will get together in the area with the most interest in getting together
-
No bars. I'm afraid Andy will get drunk and start reciting his ice fishing ballad ;D
-
sunday mornings work best for me unless it's saturday in the afternoon location will also play a huge factor
-
I'm hoping it is a bar just to hear Andy recite the ballad!!!

LOL.....nice one!
-
Im in depending on the location. Late morning or early afternoon works for me
-
I may be interested.
-
We'd be interested in both the dock and Erie events!
-
Someone posted a great idea in another topic. IFO head boat trip on Erie during the jig bite. That would be a blast and relatively cheap.

I'd be in for that....
-
Sounds like a great time!
-
Let me know if you guys want to do a headboat trip or we can run a couple of 6 pack boats too during the week for a good price. I can also run the headboat but doubt I can get as a good of a price.

I'm in either way!

I'm in also.
-
A headboat trip would be a blast. In April they run 2 trips a day and the walleye limit is 4. In May they only run 1 trip a day and the limit is 6, if it will be the same as last year. Things to consider.
-
OK guys here it is,talked with sassy sal charters in port Clinton and got us a private charter on hold for Saturday April 30th for the walleye jig. The first 13 people to confirm will have a spot for the get together, cost is $42 per person, includes ice for coolers and am working on others, this is weather permitting as usual and please serious interest only as I will be securing this with my credit card, please pm me ASAP if interested
-
Myself, Rusty and Dave Pelfrey would like 3 spots. I tried to send a message, but nit sure if I did it right.
Let me know how you want me to get you money.
Bruce
-
Does that include poles, tackle and bait?
-
Nope bring your own stuff, bait and tackle for sale before we shove off, also I think it's $8 to rent if you need stuff.
-
I'm in. Thanks Nate.
Looking forward to it ;D

You know I am in. Can't wait to fish with everyone again. It will be interesting to see how everyone does in a lake that actually has fish in it. LMAO!!! A hearty thank you Nate for taking the time and initiative getting the charter for a get together.
-
Thanks to all the members for your quick responses, at this time all spots are full,if there is enough interest I would consider booking a second date. Let me know.
-

Thanks Bruce for the link! Also if you were interested in doing a walk on the day after our charter please call and make a reservation as they are booking up fast. Thanks.
-
We could start a thread that would show everyone.
-
Dang missed it. Mark (steelhead1) and I would be down for a trip.
-
Guys,
So I've never jiggled for walleye...only drift fished with bottom bouncers. What tackle will everyone be using? A rod is no problem. Bruce put me into Erie Dearies, anything else I should consider? Will anyone be using a vex?
Can't wait to see everyone!
Andy

Hey Andy the usual tactic that time of year is a hair jig with a smaller stinger hook attached. Most of the time bait is not even needed but sometimes a minnow is effective tipped on that jig. If you have any questions feel free to call sassy Sal charters and they can fill you in,also let them know your with the ice fish Ohio charter.
Thanks
Nate

Here is the address to the pier for the get together, private restrooms are available on board. Iced down coolers are provided for your catch. Please bring a small cooler with drinks and snacks for the trip. THANKS TO ALL.

-
sent.. let me know if you didn't get it
-
Too many days until the get together. Getting the fever to get on Erie again. If the weather holds, will have to get the boat out. Too bad it's an I/O instead of an outboard or I already have it out.
-
Just wanted to remind everyone of the upcoming IFO get together. We are about 30 days until the event so mark your calendars. Also me and some other members will be heading up friday, let me know if you will also be heading up and we can all get together for dinner or a few beverages.
-
I vote for meeting at Wee Willys but I am flexible.
-
Is there anyone attending that could let me hitch a ride? I'm in Delaware and can chip in on gas!
-
I would be down for the Friday evening dinner but it would have to be a late one.
-
What time ya thinking, maybe we can meet up for a couple beers if nothing else
-
Can't wait - 9 days to go!
-
8-9 would be good for me. I would probably fun fish that friday afternoon
-
One more week to go. Won't get here soon enough. It can get be a lot cooler on the water so I always bring my bibs and jacket just in case. The Investigator has a roof that we sit under making it cooler too. Just a heads up. Will see everyone next Sat.
-
I'm excited! This will b my first time targeting walleye at Erie, first time in a boat on Erie too, every visit has been from the banks of the lake. I'm ready to clobber some eyes, some perch would be great too!
See everyone this weekend!!!
-
Just want to give an update to everyone who is planning to attend the walleye get together on saturday. I talked with the charter Captain and he sees no reason we won't proceed as scheduled. Weather looks decent with waves 1-4 foot and slight chance of showers, but keep in mind the boat is covered, please dress appropriately as Temps will be much cooler on the water. And please make sure your fishing license is up to date. Thanks!!
-
I plan on driving up on Friday. It probably won't be until later in the evening. Is "Wee Willy's" where everyone is meeting?
-
Hey bruce call me when u get up there and I will let u know,I will be up early Friday. 330-313-0260 thanks nate
-
OK
-
Ok fellow members in less than 48 hours we should be reeling in some monster walleyes at our first annual ICE FISH OHIO get together. Please remember to dress appropriately and bring all your necessary equipment and of course your license,if anyone has any questions please feel free to contact me! Thanks
-
Good times.... Thanks to Nate for putting it together. Team Rusty (Rusty, Dave and myself) all caught one keeper. I think the actual keeper count was 8. Good job Rusty on the big fish!
