General Discussion / Lakes around Centerville Ohio
« on: November 04, 2011, 06:52:41 PM »
Eye4aneye and myself are leaving Sunday morning going to Centerville for 3 or 4 days to pave a parking lot. Im interested in finding a lake that is close that we can fish at and maybe meet up with a some other IFO members from down that way. It would be really nice to find a lake that has docks we can fish from so we can fire up our Marcum's and use our ice rods. If anyone has any info please let me know. Thanks

General Soft Water Discussions / NEW Monthly Online Tourney.
« on: April 20, 2011, 09:43:25 PM »
This summer my business will be sponsoring a monthly online tourney. The awards will be given as gift cards to my online store. The online tourney will be for 1 specie each month. The specie will change from month to month. The tourney will begin the 1st of each month. So beginning on May 1st You will be able to submit your entries. The tourney will be like the hard water tourney. I will post an entry form for you to take with the pic. These are the rules for the tourney.

1. All pics must be submitted with the official entry form visible in the pic.
2. All fish must have a tape measure or ruler COMPLETLY visible in the pic just under or above the fish. Any entry's with the fish laying on the measuring device will be disqualified.
3. If there is any question about the length of a fish at least 3 Pro Staff members will determine the final length
4. All entry's must be posted by midnight of the last day of the month.
5. In the event of a tie the prize will be split between winners.
6. You may submit as many entry's for largest fish as you would like.

The prizes will be awarded as gift cards to my online website. www.HalesSinkerSupply.com . The largest fish each month will receive a $20.00 giftcard. There will also be bonuses awarded to the winner each month also in addition to the $20.00 big fish
1. If there is more then 25 entry's from 25 different IFO members the winner will receive an additional $10.00 giftcard.
2. If there is more then 50 entry's from 50 different IFO members the winner will receive an additional $20.00 giftcard.
3. If by chance you catch a new Ohio State Record fish I will award an additional 100.00 giftcard.
Make sure you tell all of your friends to sign up for an IFO membership and have them post there entry's so you can win the most prizes as you can.

We are also going to do a photo contest each month. You will not be required to have an entry form but I ask that you please only use a photo taken that month. We are doing this on the honor system. Please remember that this is meant to be fun and a good way to share your photos with everyone and get rewarded for them.

1. You may post as many photos as you would like.
2. For the first 20 entry's I will choose 5 entry's and 1 entry for each 10 additional entry's received. From the photos I chose I will post them and then let all of you decide who the final winner is.
3. The winner will receive a $10.00 giftcard to my website

If you have any questions please ask.

Soft Water Fishing Reports / Key West Fishing Report
« on: March 19, 2011, 11:17:47 PM »
I been here 2 days now on my 1 month stay. The first night I hooked into a shark that ripped my rod out of the holder and into the water. I was hartbroken as it is my favorite saltwater setup. I was fishing off of our seawall so I figured I would go snorkeling for it today to see if i could find it. I didnt think i would find it but then i came face to face with a 4 foot shark belly up on the bottom. I gaffed it and drug it to shore not sure if it was my shark or if it was even hooked up still. My grandfather pulled it up and I got out of the water. Much to amazment the damn thing was still alive just not doing too good. It was still hooked up and I was able to get my rod and reel back. Now I know most of you will call B.S. on this story, so for you my wife got pics. I will post them when I get a better internet connection as we are bootlegging from some one else. The shark was a 4 ft. lemon shark and tonight I caught a 5 1/2 ft and 4 1/2 ft lemon shark. They are  nothing like the 8 1/2 footer that hangs on my living room wall but they sure are fun to catch. Its kinda wierd going from freezing temps and 2 lb. test to 80 degrees and 50 lb test. Its hard to believe but I would almost rather be sitting on my bucket back home on the ice. (Note that I said ALMOST rather be). I have several pics I will post later and will keep updating when I can so stay tuned for more reports.

General Soft Water Discussions / Anybody Out Yet?
« on: March 03, 2011, 12:33:08 PM »
Was wondering if anybody has been softwater fisher yet? Im thinking about getting into catfishing this year. I have never really tried to catch catfish but with my sprng, summer, fall work schedule it seems like the obvious choice to be able to fish more. I only require 4-6 hrs of sleep a night so I could fish at night. Anybody here good at catching BIG catfish. I live ten minutes from wingfoot so any ideas of where to catch the big ones and what to use would be helpful. Thanks

Willard Reservoir / Stopped to check it out
« on: March 02, 2011, 10:21:22 PM »
I had to run a guy from work out to willard yesterday to take his CDL test so i figured I would check it out. It looked like there was still a lot of ice but there was no way to get on it.  I deffenatly want to fish there next year after seeing and looking at the topo map on the DNR website. Is there any eyes of good size in there. Also what other fish are in there besides gills.

« on: March 01, 2011, 08:57:36 PM »
Im looking for the schooley reels that had the spring under the drag nut to give it decent drag. maybe they still come with them as i havent bought them in years and the last few i got were knock offs that didnt have them. I dont want or need the rod as they are going to go on some better rods that I have. Any info on them would be helpful as I have about 10 hrs in research on google already and just cant find them. Thanks for your help

General Discussion / Keeping the Faith
« on: February 17, 2011, 08:49:20 AM »
Ive seen several topics on here lately about last fishing trips and how people think the season is over. I dont know how the rest of the state is but in my area the ice is is still good. Wingfoot still has 11 inchs of ice and is holding strong. The edges may thaw a little but I think it will make it. The 10 day looks like the cold weather WILL come back and we will be fishing into March. I am not saying that the ice is 100 % good and this time of year you always have to spud your way around the lakes to be carefully. With a little knowledge of how the ice works and a great deal of respect for the ice we will fish for weeks to come. All I ask is that you all keep the faith and pray to the ice gods that we have a few more weeks of ice.
