2020/2021 On-line Tournament! / 1/25/15 Pond Gills
« on: January 25, 2015, 12:05:19 PM »
Hit my private Honey Hole of a pond this morning. 29 gills, 3 throw backs. Dropped in the first hole at 8:30 am and was back to my truck by 11:00 am. Snowing and blowing like crazy but the fish were tearing up an orange 5mm tungsten jig with 2 spikes. Fished in 13 FOW, no weeds, and fished were coming up to 6'.

GREAT 2-1/2 HOURS!!!! ;D ;D ;D

Ice Gear for Sale / 2 Man Nanook, willing to trade for equal 1 man flip
« on: January 25, 2015, 06:49:53 AM »
I have a 2 man Clam Nanook with 2 padded swivel seats, no holes or tears. New runners and unit is 3 years old.

Looking for large 1 man flip with door in excellent shape with built in seat(not a bench). Willing to trade even up for the right unit. I fish alone and the Nanook is getting to heavy for me to drag around all day, even with the one seat removed.

I live in NW Ohio(Bryan) but will be in Columbus working the IceFishOhio booth during the Columbus Fishing Expo.

PM me or text 419-799-0771

Thanks,
Jeff

Lake La Sue Ann / 1/24/15
« on: January 24, 2015, 06:28:57 PM »
Fished with BBTINKER from sunrise to 2:30pm. Water was fairly clear and 5" of ice with slight snow cover. Fished in 25 fow to 5 fow. Bite was real slow. I caught a couple of small bass and 4 dink gills and 4 gills over 8". Used spikes, red spikes, mousies and waxies. Lure colors; orange, pink, flo green, black, white, pearl, nothing made a difference. Fish would follow an aggressive jigging up 3' but just wouldn't commit. AquaVue camera showed them just cruising thru the weeds. Still a Great Day on the Hard Water! ;D. Ran into Mike M. as we were leaving the ice, he was checking out the evening bite.

Lake La Sue Ann / 1/17/2015
« on: January 17, 2015, 08:39:58 PM »
Started at Baw Beese Lake in Michigan and it was a bust. Fished everything from 6' to 40'. No bites. Moved to LaSuAn in late afternoon. BBTinker an I started in 38 fow. Ice was 4.5 to 5", clear and solid with about 2" of snow cover. Caught a few gills suspended at 18' as they moved, 1-9". Fish were sporadic. About 4pm, moved to 13 fow and got about 15 by dark. Fished an orange 5mm tungsten jig with red spikes and BBTinker was using dark tungsten with waxies. now was turning to slush. Planning to head out in the morning if it doesn't rain like they are calling for. Temps are expected to stay above freezing tonite, but should be ok in the morning if it doesn't rain. Bring back on the cold!!!! At lot of people on lake today with the warm weather and lake open for icefishing for 1st time in about 8 years. Still full of quality gills and one guy I talked to got a decent perch. Also met ToledoTim today after we got off the ice.

Nettle lake / 1/11/15
« on: January 11, 2015, 04:57:02 PM »
BBTinker and I hit Nettle again today. Fished from 9:30 to 2:30. Fished in 20' of water not far from the open water East of the boat ramp. Started out slow with some small perch and crappie, with a few 9 to 10" crappie on waxies. Then the fish just shut down; plenty of lookers and followers from the bottom to 4' below the ice. Threw everything at them including the kitchen sink and no takers; not even trying to strip bait. Used minnows, waxies, spikes, plastics. Went large, medium, small and micro with no luck. White, silver, glow, metal flake, pink, red, black, orange, flo green, aggressive jigging, subtle jigging, and dead stick; all of no use. But still a warmer day on the hard water with 5" of clear ice covered by 2" to 3" of snow. Water was murky with Micro Vu only seeing about 1'... ???

Drove by on way home from Nettle Lake. Open water on North end and a few punky looking areas; especially by boat ramp. Didn't look like anyone has been on. Didn't check ice as I was alone. ;)

Drove by today on way back from Nettle Lake. Open water in the center and water level looks to be down about 5'. Looked like someone had tried to get down to the SW cove. Couldn't see any holes only shanty drag marks in the snow. ;)

General Discussion / NW Ohio ICE

Just got done checking the ice on my Pond; everyone check your ice and keep spudding.

The ice varied from 5" where there was no snow to 4" where there was about 1" of snow down to 2" where I had 3 -4" of snow.

Everyone must be extremely vigilant as we venture out on this 1st ice. We all want to be fishing but we all want to see the pics of the fish you catch, not the tales of the lake that caught you!!! ;)
