Title: Gas auger on Kiser?
Post by: wballard77 on January 02, 2012, 05:25:08 PM
Okay, sorry if this topic has been covered. Can you use gas augers on Kiser? I did it last year but the scuttlebutt is that it is a big no-no.

Technically, I would say "NO" but pleading ignorance may be the best solutuion and I m pretty sure no one wants to ask then they     ( the Local PO PO)may start looking and enforcing. LOL

Yuck! I hate drilling by hand! Bressler is Electric motor only and they don't care on the ice. I guess I will call the park office.

to my knowledge it says
Sailing is popular at Kiser Lake as boats with motors are not permitted on the 396 acre lake

so it says for boats and not fishing.  i have seen gas augers out there and to my knowledge there is no issue.

Kiser is not in my jurisdictional area and I do not know of their waterway regs or restrictions.

yea the other places are reservoirs used for water supply unlike kiser that is just a lake.  granted they want to keep it pristine so that is why there are no boats with motors.

So do you think I would get into trouble if I drag my sled across the lake on my 3-wheeler?

I asked Jeff Tipton the county wildlife officer if he would give me a ticket for using a gas auger on Kizer and said it it was ok. But I have had other people say the park officers might. I have used and seen them used the last 6-7 years. Also I have never seen a 3 or 4wheeler on the lake in the 12 or so years I have fished it.

They list snowmobiles under winter activity's. So.. they couldn't give you a ticket for that.  ;D
