Title: Vex FL-12 transducer
Post by: ICE COLD on January 12, 2015, 12:36:51 PM
My transducer on my FL-12 quit working. I think it's right where the cable goes into the transducer. I can wriggle it and it will work and if I prop it up it will work. Anyways I am going to order a new transducer from Vexilar. Are they all the same or are some 19 degrees and some 12? I usually fish Indian where the depth is very seldom over 6' so I'm assuming I should go with the 12 degree transducer. Any info would help.

For Indian the old school adage of wider is better holds true. There are no drop offs to speak of, and if you do plan on fishing deeper water with steep drop offs I would spend the extra cash and get the Tri-Beam

I agree with wballard77, plus the tri-beam gives you some flexibility, you can swith to a narrower beam cone if needed.

On a tri-beam, is the switch on the transducer? I don't remember seeing a switch on the vex.
