Thanks, Slab, for taking care of admin. business - especially with all the crap we are getting on our site. Sometimes, we as members, take for granted, overlook and forget the effort it takes to do your job. Must be a time consuming ordeal but you are handling it well ! Keep up the good work! I'm sure we all appreciate it!

This is the year for cicadas to hatch. Has anyone fished with them thru the ice? Small fish,of course, are out but how about saugeyes ?

The safe ice season is just about over.We usually had brutal cold winds in the middle of Feb. with sub zero wind chills and then 10" of snow at Indian. Very rough getting on and off the lake even with a Smitty sled. Not getting any younger! So I need to lighten the load for next year. Decided to eliminate 15 1/2 lbs. Mr. Buddy Heater and accessories. Never used it yet since the shelter and handwarmers kept me comfortable. My Eskimo Stingray 8" 33cc. ice auger weighs 28 lbs.Need a lighter one of lithium-ion battery type. The lightest on the market is the Ion G2 6 amp-hr 8" 40 V at 17 lbs. While searching for prices, saw this- Ion 39350 8" G2 40V Lithium Ion Electric Auger - $78.35 rdrstf.com. What !! $78.35 ! Has anyone does business with them? Sounds like a scammer. Would appreciate comments!

Problem ! The conditions look good for safe ice in the next few weeks. I would really enjoy being on the hard water past Feb. 6 th. But, our 56 th wedding anniversary is that date. Fishing is not her thing. What should I do to insure a 57 th anniversary ? Help !!

Simply a thought. By law, your name and address must be attached on your fishing shanty. Fine ! It might be nice to see your Ice Fish Ohio username , in larger letters of course, also attached somehow to the outside of your shelter. Could promote some conversation upon meeting each other on the ice. Or is this too gaudy!

A few years ago, I bought a Mr. Heater portable Buddy Radiant Heater Model MH9BX using 1 lb. propane disposable cylinders for use in my ice fishing shelter from Cabela's. Tried it only 1 time just to check it out. Worked fine but used it for just a few minutes. The owners manual says it's safe "for indoor use in small recreational enclosures having means for providing combustion air and ventilation such as enclosed porches, cabins, fishing huts, trailers, tents and vans. Can be used for emergency indoor heating when connected to a disposable 1 lb. propane cylinder having means for providing combustion air and ventilation". BUT I'm still concerned about carbon monoxide in my ice shelter.Has anyone used this type of heater in their ice fishing shelter? Any problems? Is it really safe?

The temp forecast for the next 3 weeks at Russell's Point Indian Lake has not changed since last week. Avg High - 36.0 deg. Avg Low - 23.4 deg. BUT the forecast for the period Jan 11 - Jan 26 2021 -16 days - predicts Avg High - 28.6 deg. Avg Low - 12.9 deg. During this period, only 2 daytime temps are predicted to be just above freezing. MAYBE!! Encouraging, but let's wait and see!

Ready to fish and rod lines tangled? Cheap fix- Separate multiple prepared rods with your favorite jigs attached with plastic golf club tubes. (Normally used in a golf bag for separationof clubs.)Tubes can be cut down to size of your rods. Slide tubes down rod - no tangling!!
