Caught probably 80 fish today. Mostly gills and finally some nice crappies. Ice was pretty decent but it's warming up again so tomorrow morning might be the last time out for me for a few days. Caught my fish in the front channel at Anderson's in 7fow. Crappies were suspended between 4-5 feet. Caught the crappies mainly on chartreuse Gulp tails, gills on wax worms and plastic.
Wasn't sure how the ice would be today but there was a lot more than I expected. I fished a channel late this afternoon and caught quite a few gills and finally one crappie. Hitting it again early in the morning. I've had the fastest action while it's still dark. Ice was a good solid 4".
Caught a bunch of gills at Anderson's today. Both channels were producing but the back channel had bigger fish. It was one after another for awhile but the kids feet got cold so we had to leave. Didn't see any crappies though.
Gills were biting great today. This was my first time out in 12 years. I finally broke down and bought a shanty, new poles,auger and flasher. What a difference the flasher makes! Can't believe I fished so long without one. I threw them back but could've kept over a dozen. Got some pictures with my daughter and that was the best thing. Take a kid fishing!
