If you call vex's customer service they will help diagnose the problem over the phone. Mine wouldn't turn on a few years back, they diagnosed it as the power switch, and sent me a new one for free. I hope you get it going I probably wouldn't fish( wouldn't know how) if I didn't have mine.

Buckeye lake / Time to switch

With over 400 gills in 2 trips, I think I have enough in the freezer to last awhile, time to target the eyes. Just wondered if anyone has gotten on any sizable eyes at Fairfield or Harbor Hills.

Fished in 3fow for gills today, bite was slow at first then picked up. We caught between 150 to 200 gills, the guys I fished with took home 55 in the 8 to 10 inch range. If you tied a shark on your line I think they would of hit it, they bit just about everything, including big bass minnows on jaw jackers. Lot of guys on the ice today, by the time we left it was starting to get water on top. Good luck and be safe.

Alum Creek / 1-15-2015

1st time out on alum, went after panfish, caught about 25 to 30 gills, surprisingly 11 where keepers in the 8 to 9 inch range. I caught 1 10" crappie. Shelby and Brad caught a catfish apiece. We fished 10fow, ice was around 7" good clear ice, and it was making ice for the most part of the day. I don't think there was a more dominate color or bait preference, we caught them on just about everything. It wasn't a real exciting bite but we did alright, and a bad day on the ice is better than a good day at work. Good luck and be safe.

I don't think it is advertised but, the state stocks Antrim lake the day before Thanksgiving with all their steroid breeder trout. you can't ice fish it, but there is a lot of goldens in with the rainbows. They're anywhere from 3 to 6 pounds.

Fished a panfish hole I have never fished before, had 7" of good clear ice over 1.5' of water that's right 1.5' and we caught a blue gill every 10 seconds. John Kernan and I must have landed over 200 gills from noon till 6ish.  I kept over 40 of them measuring 8 to 10 inches. I never would have thought they would be that shallow, but they are. The hot jig color  seemed to be orange and yellow tipped with a wax worm. The bite was light, most of them didn't even bounce the spring bobber, you had to watch your line, when it started to move to the side you set the hook and had a fish. I'll post pics. tomorrow before I clean them. Good luck and be safe.

No on the dinks, Dave caught 1 short, everything else was keepers. Where we fished there is not the quantity as Fairfield or harbor hills, but the quality is much better. As far as what time I'm going Tues. depends on how much gets consumed during the big game. If you would like to meet up PM me your number and I'll give you a call after I take some Advil in the morning.

It was overcast all day causing the fish to feed all day, but it was sporadic, we wouldn't mark a fish for 2hrs then every pole would start bouncing for 5mins, then as fast as it started it ended, wait 2hrs, on again. I think they are roaming around in little wolf packs chasing shad. I believe if they keep letting water out they will have no choice but to school up in the few holes there are in the lake, should pick up. Gonna fish buckeye again Tues. if anyone wants to meet up, I'm gonna go after panfish at an area I herd they were doing good, I've never fished there but figured I'd give it a shot, I can always move.

@fishfever103, Dave is a big fan of the syco shads, you would have to ask him, I don't use them, I stick to the stuff that has been proven to work for years, jiggn raps, pimples, vibes( depending on the lake your fishing), and always a live bait rig next to something I just mentioned. If your focus is buckeye lake you can use the smallest rap they make and move up a size or two depending on clarity of water, tip the treble with a wax worm or the smallest minnow head you got, so you don't interfere with the action. Also tip ups work great at buckeye, spread them out. Hope this helps and good luck.

he caught 1 saugeye, I caught 2 keeper perch and lost 4 big eyes in the hole, I would not say dave won. Plus it was my spot I drilled the 50 holes to find the fish, I found the spot on the spot, I figured out the color, action, and depth, set up everything and fed him all day. Only thing dave did was jump in my hole while I was taking off a fish, drink diet coke, and fish, now you tell me, and please feel free to post it so Dave realizes who out fished who. ::)

First time on the ice today, took Dave to what is usually a panfish spot I have fished several times for big gills, but they were not anywhere to be found, what it ended up being was a good perch and eye spot. Dave caught 1 throw back and 1-19" eye, missed about 3 strikes. I caught 1-11" perch and 1-12" perch, lost the biggest perch I have ever seen in the hole along with 4 saugeyes ranging from 2 to 4 lbs. all of which came off while I was bending over to grab them outta the hole. I think Dave filed off my barbs on my hooks. Where we were fishing their was 7" of ice, but spud your way there is a lot of areas with a lot less including some areas of open water. We were in 6ft of water and the fish hit just about everything, jiggn raps, syco  shads, live minnows under bobbers, and on tip ups, and jaw jackers. The bite was real light and it took a lotta work to get them to commit. All in all it was a good first time out, with a good fishing buddy, even though he was doubting my choice of area when we got there. Good luck if you go out and make sure you use a spud.
