General Discussion / brand of line
« on: October 31, 2014, 09:13:34 AM »
What brand of line do you use? Not lb.test, but specific brand. I am looking for a low memory non braid line for pan fishing. I use trilene xl on my walleye and perch rods where I use heavier lures where line memory isn't a problem. I was thinking about trying pline ice line in 3 lb. test this year.

General Discussion / lake preference

What lake do you hope to fish first and what species do you target?  Living near Dayton, I usually fish Indian Lake first and fish for saugeyes and perch.

« on: March 09, 2014, 09:54:23 PM »
Great job this year on the dock tourneys. Lot of fun even if the fishing was slow. Congrats to the winners of tourney and prizes. Look forward to doing it again next year.

Buckeye lake / Sunday
« on: February 24, 2014, 09:32:17 AM »
Shoreline ice mostly gone, have to wade or use planks. Use your spud bar if you go. Saw one person go through a few times on his way out of Fairfield Beach. A fellow icer helped him get off safely. Maybe 8 people fishing. Catfish were the main biters. Only saw 2 keeper saugeyes and a few crappies. Hopefully it will be safe later in the week. Be safe and carry your safety equipment and use your spudbar if you venture out.

« on: February 18, 2014, 11:19:51 PM »
Had fun fishing with Dave today. I stayed in one spot and Dave moved around more than me. Caught 2 barely keepers and 2 throwbacks. Lost 2 keepers and 2 throwback at hole and lost 1 crappie. Dave got 1 throwback. Fished in 8 ft of water using a gold Phoebe and #2 glow jigging Rapala. Look forward to doing it again.

Does anyone know the street name that goes to Fairfield Beach? Everything is marked except the road to get to Fairfield Beach.

Buckeye lake / First time on Buckeye
« on: February 12, 2014, 02:25:48 PM »
Fished Buckeye for the first time 2-11. Parked at Fairfield Beach and went past the island. Fished in 11 feet of water. Caught 1 3lb. saugeye, 1 throwback & 1 10.5 in. crappie all on a gold Phoebe with a whole crappie minnow. A lot of lookers but not many bitters. My 2 buddies caught 2 & 1 keeper eyes. Got there about 3:30 and fished until dark. Will definately have to try it again.

Indian Lake / Different areas?
« on: January 04, 2014, 10:07:30 PM »
Keep reading about Long Island ice but was wondering if anyone has checked other areas? I would like to know about Moundwood, Dunns, Blackhawk, and Cranberry ice thickness. Any info would be greatly appreciated. I figure most of the ice will be fishable after the arctic snap if the snow cover is minimal.
