Title: My Wilcraft arrived!!!—PICS UP!
Post by: slabslayer on December 20, 2018, 04:58:38 AM
Got my Wilcraft delivered last night.  So cool!! Can’t wait for ice now, going to be so much fun.  I need to get it out now.  Going to wear the studs off the tires going up and down the street!

I’ll add some pics later.

Good idea! I’ll do that this afternoon.  I promised Deklan a ride tonight before the rain, he was so excited when he saw it!

Congrats! I hope I’ll get to see it out in action this winter! Wonder what kinda crazy promises I could make to my wife to get her to let me buy one of those.

I don’t know.  You’ll definitely get to see it though.  It’ll run on 1.5” of ice. Soon as we get a freeze we can meet up and go out.  We fish the same areas and it’ll be safer if I’m not alone.

G I may end up in Michigan first if it doesn't cool down. I bought my fishing license online and the decal for the wilcraft will be coming in the mail.

It is.  Soon as we get that 1.5” I’ll be texting or calling you.  I’m climbing the walls to get it out!  But it looks like after this coming weekend things start to cool down.  Maybe by the Friday/weekend after New Years there’ll be a Wilcraft on moggy!!

You might need to go to PLX or Nimmy. Doesn't it have a gas motor? I know Moggy didn't allow gas augers last time I was there.

It’s kind of a gray area.  Mogadore allows a gas motor to be on your boat anymore, just no part of it can be used in the water.  Technically no part of it would ever be in the water on the Wilcraft either, even if it broke through. It’s fully sealed and cannot sink, so there would be zero pollution concern.  I guess it would depend on the rangers interpretation whether I could stay or get kicked off.  It took over 2 hours on the phone just for the state to figure out how to title it, even though Bobby explained everything to me and I told them it was still a fiasco.  I hate to call and ask because they have no idea what this machine is and who knows what the ranger I’d actually meet on the water would say.  Figure I’ll try it and see what happens, and soon as we get decent ice I’m off of Mogadore anyhow.  Just a place to scratch the itch!!

They don't go that fast, that's how I drive my truck. But they are a blast to drive once you get past the learning curve. I drove mine in the Christmas parade this year and the looks were the best part.

It is a blast!   Everyone who has come over wants a ride, even those who don’t ice fish. I’m starting to get the feel for it.  Hoping for some time to start making mods to the interior this week while I’m off work. So much more room than a shanty!

I’m guessing around 600-700 pounds. Tops. I can pick up the front end and spin it around.  Fingers crossed for week of January 7th to get it out.

If things don't turn around here soon you'll have to put those things on trailers and head north somewhere. Either that or float around and cast. The one time of year that I miss living in Northern WI. Good Luck guys and let's pray for cold. P.S. Be safe

Agreed!!!  This is driving me nuts!  Looks like we’re getting a cold snap and they change the forecast.  So frustrating!  But I have 2 more weeks of work anyway before I could really get out anyway.  So it’s frustrating, but not horrible since I couldn’t get out much anyway.   But if we don’t have ice by mid to end of January I’ll be going nuts!

Those things will be sweet for Erie, might take a tad longer to get out there than a sled but your not dragging anything behind you. My wife keeps asking me why I keep picking things up for the ice LOL, silly woman.

I’ll try and load my pictures of it.

I really want to try it up there.  But I’m getting concerned about the big pond freezing more than just bays and backwaters for eye and perch fishing.  I’d only go up there with an airboat before and now I have a machine safe for Erie watch the main lake not freeze!   >:( ::)

But you can never have too many ice toys.  My wife thought it was stupid until she saw it.  Now she thinks it’s cool but won’t ride with me again until I get the stick steering down.  I’m dyslexic so at first I was turning it the wrong way and almost hit a tree and the garage.  Oops!!   :o

Practice makes perfect they say, and you always have to make it your own. If it ever gets cold enough for it at Nimi, give a heads up, would like to see it in action, thanks ahead of time.
