What are some ideas to cook in the shanty? I want to convert and use my buddy heater this year.

I get the precooked sausages and burger patties, wrap in heavy foil or put it in small aluminum pans and set on top of the grate opening , hot soups, and most of all, hot coffee. I got an aluminum pitcher pump type cup I fill with bottled water and set on the top of the grate, let it get steamin and add my instant coffee. Nothing better than a hot lunch and a hot cup of coffee on the ice. Just remember to use a glove to get it off, it hurts !!

I cook soup on mine, and use a pair of oil filter pliers because they get hot.

Has anyone come up with a contraption to make the cooking on a buddy heater ergonomic?

Check under inventions. I posted some pics last winter of taking a paint roller screen for a five gallon bucket and attached to my Buddy Heater to cook on. :) :)

Pizza wrapped in nonstick foil. Can't have the cheese sticking to the foil. Shelter smells like a pizza oven. 😀

I also made a grill thingy for my buddy heater , its cool to have hot stuff on the ice, and pizza aroma rolling out of the shanty is cool  8)     one time my bud and I were on the ice and cut the ends off a pop can flattened it put a hole in middle and stuck it on my coleman lantern and were catching gills and fillet them and cook them on the can while we caught them   ;D   FRESH  ;D

I'll take soup, usually clam chowder. If I get ambitious I will fill a small foil tin pan with kraut and kielbasa, pinch foil around the rim and simmer it on my buddy heater.
