Title: Places to ice fish near Zanesville?
Post by: wis2ohio on January 11, 2015, 08:36:01 PM
I am in College at Zane State and looking for a place that I can go ice fishing between classes? I know there is Dillion Lake but I dont know this lake at all and not willing to chance anything going solo so I am looking for a lake near by that I would be able to catch a few fish.

Wish I could help but have never ice fished that area. Have only fished soft water at AEP lands. Good luck.

Have you thought about heading southward on 60 to Blue Rock State Park?
Cutler Lake is pretty lively during the year.

AEP strip pits, I grew up fishing them, lots of big panfish, bass, and musky.

I have 3 hrs between classes and not very familiar with anything past Zanesville so I have never heard of Blue Rock State Park.

CRV I was told to stay away from AEP as it is very unpredictable with water flow and thickness.

Most of the AEP ponds are fairly deep so it takes them longer to freeze. Hope you find somewhere to get out and fish. Good luck.
