All,
I checked Long Island just before the bridge at 9:00am Here’s what I found:
- Ambient was 10F with 2 mph winds from the South
- There has been a lot of ice build overnight.
- I spudded out 25’ From the bank with my chisel not going through after 3 hits.
- The Ice is very slippery - I recommend cleats if you decide to go out today
- There was -20folks fishing on the Pony Island side more spread out then yesterday
- There was 1 guy on the O’Connors side
- No more snow overnight and more of the light dusting has blown off the ice.
The lake level continues to fall based upon looking at the level at my dock.
I would say that we are close to the same conditions that got us on the ice a couple weeks ago. Again, I’m reporting what I see, please use caution if you decide to go out today.
I don’t think there’s a need for more updates at this point however; if you need info please feel free to reach out and I’ll do what I can to help...

Great report, I'll be over there sometime Wednesday and Thursday morning...... I guess it's time to try and enter some fish into the online tourney

Is long island a decent place to fish? I've never been there before and I want to make sure to stay on good ice since I'll be there by myself. Thanks for the report. It really helps us guys who have to travel an hour or more.

It’s as good a place as any, there’s usually folks out there - you won’t be alone...

We fished Long Island yesterday. Lot of gills, a few crappies, three slob perch and even a 1.5 lb bass. Ice was good everywhere we went, 6-8". I did see one guy walk over Pony Island to get to that channel. Don't know if he caught any. Ice jigs with wax worms was all we used. A couple people did go over the Northfork side. Water is muddy on that side though. Once we started catching them people started crowding around us and the noise slowed the fishing down. One guy even was using a hatchet to open holes to fish.
