that is actually ashell cracker they get alot bigger than gills....huge none the less

a efw years ago i saw an article where a guy drained hi pond & had a 5 lb. hybrid bluegill in it. it looked huge.

Shell Cracker, Pumpkin Seed, Red Ear, all the same fish. Not a bluegill. There are hybrid bluegills that get really huge but that is another genetic monster.  We can almost always find one pounders in MN, if you fish certain lakes and those fish are nice bluegills with big neck humps. kentucky lake has some beasts! i want to try and make a trip this spring to try and catch the end of the crappie spawn and begining of the bluegill/shellcraker spawn. I hope!!!
