A good day , not too cold and no rain . The fish were scarce but a few were caught . It was great to see all who attended .

Being outdoors with friends . Watching someone grasp the spirit behind ice fishing. And the scenery, ever changing , always beautiful . And the fish I harvest are sweeter .

I think you are just a gadget guy, catfish will bite on anything
I do like gadgets and I've caught more than my share of catfish . But I jealous of your expertise on nontypical species aka waterdog/mudpuppies . :)What gadget targets them ?

Jigging spoons with a minnow head near bottom work great. Jig it a few times and PAUSE for at least a full 10 count ,after a couple of jig / pause cycles ,drop it hard onto the bottom and bounce it around to stir up the silt . They will come to investigate what's going on . Jigging raps work great too. If you caught walleye in the summer / fall these same locations can produce in early ice .Don't be aofraid to move around and find the fish . Wearing down auger blades will get you mote opportunities for more active fish .

;DI just got a rod holder/tip down called the Dangler .mainly to use for my dead stick , to keep it out of the snow . I'm impressed with the compact and light weight design also the ease of setup and take down . This is a well thought out piece of equipment . Im going to try it out on Saturday at the dock tournament at Alum . You should check this out online at www.fishdangler.com .

I have been wondering about adding tip downs to my ice fishing arsenal . They are real sensitive and fun to watch . My concern is the line freezing in the hole . Any feedback would be appreciated..

Do you and Larry have a side bet on the heaviest Mudpuppy ? Or the smallest white bass . Maybe who can not roll off the dock while sleeping . Oh well I give up tryingto guess what's up . I just hope the weather okay and the fish are bitting .

Come on guys , we live in Ohio . The weather here is a fickle mistress . But we all want the same thing , safe ice and hunger fish . So ready your gear and keep an eye on the thermometer .
