General Discussion / Re: Great to meet everyone Saturday.
« on: January 09, 2011, 08:22:02 PM »
it was nice to great to meet everyone. the chili was excellent & all the snacks & hot chocolate was greatly appreciated. 2 throw back saugeyes was all i could get. did see 2 keeper saugeyes caught. great turn out for the weather conditions. great job & thank you dave. if anyone found a set of ice picks please let me know. thanks.

+1  It was great meeting everyone for sure.  After lunch I went over to Long Island with Brian and Solomon? and we tried to scratch a few more gills out.  I left them with about an hour left and went over a ismuth and found a huge group of shanties which usually means fish.  I set up and promptly caught 10 very nice gills until the bite died off at dark.  I was nice getting out and learning a bit about the lake and conversing with all of you!

Indian Lake / This evening 1/7
« on: January 07, 2011, 08:24:40 PM »
I just went over to take a look and get some bait so I wouldn't have to worry about it in the morning.  I went to Levans and got regular spikes and red spikes.  I went across the street to Mikes and had a long conversation with hiim.  He's a quality guy it seems.  I didn't have much cash with me nd he doesn't take credit so I only bought a couple of things and he threw in some glow jigs as well.  Anyhow, I went to Blackhawk and there weren't a lot of folks out on the ice there.  A few shanties, maybe 4 and a few pairs of people.  I saw one bluegill caught not terribly far from the end of the docks.  I went on out toward where I saw a couple of shanties and tried to jig for eye's but didn't hook up with any.

On another note, when I was leaving I went over to the shanties who were also getting off the ice and I saw something that wasn't very cool but I didn't say anything.  These guys had caught a bunch of gills over two days and kept some very marginal fish.  As the one guy was putting them in his bucket he would throw the small ones, dead, back in the hole.  Kinda made me a little sick since they weren't released when they were caught if they were marginal.  Oh well, hopefully tomorrow will be a great experience.  I'm stoked to get out and meet some of you.

Hmm... well I didn't really want to head downtown today but I'll call around and see if I can find anything out near Indian.  I'm thinking about hitting it before or around dark.

General Discussion / Mousee's?
« on: January 07, 2011, 11:12:53 AM »
I was wondering if anyone has seen mousee's this season?  I talked with LeVans and they didn't get many because of some problem with the harvest or something.  I didn't see any when I was over in Indiana fishing either.  I'm heading to Indian for the event in the morning and would like to have some good bait.  Right now I only have some poor wax worms which look pitiful.

Thanks!

Very nice!  Hopefully I will catch something worth entering in the contest.
I like the look of their jigs.

Alum Creek / Re: Marina Docks at Alum 1 5 2011
« on: January 07, 2011, 07:32:12 AM »
A buddy and I went last evening.  We started to the back of the cove behind the marina.  Ice was about 3-5" depending.  I'm not confident in my electronics quite yet but I marked some bait in the mid water column.  We moved off the marina docks and only had one strike the entire night.

I'm heading over to take a look at Indian after work and will pick up some bait for tomorrow as well.

Delaware Reservoir / Re: Deleware res ice fishing?

Depending on how it goes at Alum tonight I may give Delaware up north in one of the creek arms a shot tomorrow after work.  Either that or I'm taking the drive over to Indian a little early...   ;D

Someone was coming in as I left yesterday.  I didn't venture out on the ice but did check it out.  I am going to try and hit it somewhere after work today, in about an hour, at Alum.

I can't find the guy you are talking about.
I wonder if he may have taken his things off Ebay?  Do you have any other way of contacting him?

I almost went out and checked some ice yesterday but didn't have my boots or creepers so I decided against it.  I'm glad to hear your alright and didn't get wet.  I'm going to give it a try after work today unless something blows up here in the next hour.

I'll be there and am trying to get a buddy who is newer than me to ice fishing to come with me.
I'm stoked by the way!

Buckeye lake / Ice Report?
« on: January 05, 2011, 11:38:58 AM »
I was just curious if there were any ice reports for Buckeye this week?
I won't make a trip out there if I don't know at least one person is on it as the drive is about 45 minutes for me or so.

Thanks!

All of these ideas seem like good ones I should possibly try.
Maybe one day when I get my things together good enough.

Good good eats right there!
I prefer bluegill only second to perch.

Sweet work.
