I fished the first pull off today and the ice was 3.5" near shore and 4" of clear ice out in the middle. I caught 35-40 gills and 2 lm biggest bass was 1.5# and the gills were running 6"-8.5". It was the best day I've had there, fished 10am to 4pm.
Checked the lake today and the only ice was a strip of thin ice that ran from the beach to half way between the creek and the long pier off the big curve.
I got off work at noon today so I had to give the docks a try. I caught 6 crappie 1 legal and 8-10 gills in about an hour, was not dressed for the wind .
I have had a vex for 8-10 years and would not be without it. A couple of weeks ago I got a lx3 but have not had good ice to try it out, I tryed it off the docks at CJ a couple of times. I also have had a camera for 5-6 years and it helped me get my first saugeyes on the ice by watching how they reactated. Would not go without the flasher.
There was 2" of soft white ice at the pier in front of the park office at 7:30 this morning, should be ok by late week with the temps they are calling for.
David there was a little open water at the docks at moundwood and the north lane was not very open this morning. Quackpot did you get any keppers today?
