Been thinking of doing a panfish tournament on Nimisila this winter. Wanting to do a group event here for 2 years, and have the ice to do it now. Getting a lot of positive feedback and interest. Was thinking mid-end of February. If anyone is interested, please post in this thread, and with enough interest I'll post the rules and set a date. There won't be an entry form, just the rules in this thread. What do you all think?
Hope everyone's up for it, Joel.

NIMISILA PANFISH TOURNAMENT
Sunday, February 23
Check-in/weigh-in site: to be determined, but will be a parking lot at Nimi.
Check-in starts at 6:45 am
Weigh-in at 2:30 pm
Entry fee $10/person with 2 optional $5 pots. One for biggest bluegill, one for biggest crappie. There will be a $5 registration fee with this event. It will help defer expenses, such as the coffee and donuts that we'll have at check-in. There will be no pre-registration for this event, its pay at the dock.
Rules are simple. There will be 2 payouts. The entry fees will be split 2 ways, biggest 5 bluegills and biggest 5 crappies. Must have proper safety gear. Can fish alone or with a partner, entry is $10/person or $20/team. If no fish are caught, all money, except the registration fee will be returned. However, if fish are caught, all prize money will be paid out. For example, if no legal crappie are caught, all money will transfer to bluegill pot. All Nimisila's waters are open to fishing. You can keep your legal limit for eating, but only 5 of each species may be weighed in. Ties will be determined by a fish off. ;D No tip-ups, 2 rods per person.
We're working on some prizes to give away, to be determined later.
Tournament directors, IFO, sponsors, are not liable for any damages. This is a fish at your own risk event.
PLEASE POST IN THIS THREAD IF YOU CAN ATTEND. I got my sickness out of the way, so I'm good to go and look forward to meeting everyone.
-
Rules posted! Date is 2/23. See Nimi board.
-
Awesome!!!!!! cant wait!! Thank you

Noway we can get into more of an evening bite slab?
I thought about it, but need to see to do weigh in. Plus some guys may not be able to fish 12 hours. Family, other obligations, etc. We can play by ear and see what happens. We can always push back weight in on tournament morning if everyone agrees.
-
I'll give it a try
-
It was just a thought. Lack of the evening bite kinda hurt us during the skeeter outing. I know it doesn't affect the panfish that much but 630 start time may be hard for someone traveling some distance. I noticed a few couldn't make it due to church also. Don't mean to step on toes, and I know it can't accomidate everyone. It's just some thoughts is all.
-
I know as soon as I say that i'll be there we'll get snow and I'll get called into work.... again.... i'm REALLY beginning to hate snow ;D.... soooo I cant make it,,, won't be there,,, ;) ;) JON
-
I am in. Now need to make sure one my kids will behave long enough for one of them to come.
The 0645 check in is early but if I can get up at 0300 for the Berlin tournament then I can for this one. Doesn't matter to me if we move the weigh in to a later time.
-
;D ;D. Nimisila great , I'll check the on call list for February . Can't wait . Hey Slab what about perch ?
-
I forgot about them. Let me think on that one.... ???
-
Sounds good to me. I'm in.
-
Hey slab I think luvstophish meant channel cat he would throw perch back ;D just sayin
-
;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Although catfish taste great out of a pan ,they are not panfish .Perch are panfish and also taste great ,of coarse you need to catch one with enough meat on it to eat .
-
Just wondering with all the thefts that are happening that way on this lake is there a better area that we will be meeting to where we can see vehicles all the time or is this going to be a hit or miss on being able to see vehicles?
-
The east side never has problems, but for the tournament you can park and fish anywhere on the lake. I've never had a problem there at North end, but if someone tried to steal from me, lets just say they'd live to regret that very much. It'd be hard to crap out an ice auger, which is what they'd be doing, I have cameras on my truck. Works to protect my tools, but good for ice gear too!! I think we'll be fine for tournament, problems have been at night.
-
Sounds like a fun reasonable event. I'm in if the doctor says okay on mon. RE perch, maybe just a big perch side pot of $5 optional. Besides if IBJ shows up with his son, I won't mess with them on Nimi perch, ;D
-
Sounds great, I'm in. Can you just pay for the op's that you want? I never catch perch there so I would'nt want to do a pot on them.
-
Yes, absolutely. Pots are up to the individual if they want to enter them.
-
I'm in with a partner!!
-
Just wondering would it be ok to start a thread for those who might be looking for a partner on the nimi section or would it be better to be placed on the looking for a partner?
-
No, fine to post a thread! ;D
-
I was just wondering if that date is set in stone? Reason that I'm asking is that there is another tourny at wingfoot on sat the 22nd. Would love to do both, but back to back. Might be a little tough. Just wondering if anybody else is planning for the same thing?
-
We can see, but a lot of the guys said the 16th won't work for them and I can't do it the 9th. If we moved it back a week I'm afraid going into March May cause ice problems. We can look at that as it gets closer if everyone wants to though.
-
Ok, thanks for the responce, and I'll do a wait and see.
-
Do the fish have to be alive when weighed in? ???
-
No they don't.
-
Count me in to help assist running the tourney if I'm not working.
-
its good , slab im going to follow you so that gas auger stays warm...heheh easier to start ;D ;D ;D AND im bringing my blow up cat fish for good luck... ::)
-
Sounds good, I've drilled a lot of holes lately. I've even had guys offer to pay me to drill for them. I don't mind drilling for free, keeps the motor warm!! :D
-
Can we use gas augers ????(http://)
-
Absolutely!! ;D That's what I'll be using!
-
Im all in!!! Bringing a buddy also

Thanks, Brendon
-
Yes it's open to the public and I do believe the date is set for the 23rd
-
Yes, public and the 23rd is an official date. See you there!!
-
sounds great!!! Me and my old man are in
-
I see there is a tournament at wingfoot on the 22nd.and I see that it does not say no frozen fish on this tournament Please add that rule. And have u decided on a perch pot. And will there be a odd fish pot.
-
Sweet, I'll be there. Is there a set parking lot we'll be registering at in the morning?
-
There will be, I'll post it very soon!
-
Yes, a moderately frozen fish can weigh in. I know the difference between a fish caught in the morning and one in someone's freezer for a day or 2. That's what we want to avoid. ;D There will be optional perch and oddball fish pots. I'll post a thread with complete rules, the check-in site, and the entry fees/optional pots by the weekend at the latest.
-
