Classifieds / hover craft ice shanty info.
« on: February 24, 2015, 08:40:30 PM »
do any of you remember or maybe saw a "HOVER-HUT" ice shanty that is basically a flat plat form with a lift engine and a pusher engine in rear similar to a airboat? these were mfg. in Wisc. I think aprox 2004,5,and 6. there is currently a mighty nice one on craigslist but its ten grand. these would show up at ice fishing shows and I think larger boat shows. im looking for a run-out or damaged unit or unwanted unit. thanks if you can help. I would like a readable brochure if you have one. thanks!! I know these are highly controversial items and you either hate em or love em.

Ice Safety!!! / close call for this old man
« on: February 27, 2014, 10:44:53 PM »
two days ago I broke couple of ice fishing rules and almost bought the farm. went fishing alone, mid week and my propane heater nearly co2 me to death. two days to recover! seems the heater I btg has had legal issues and was the kind that lawsuits were brought against mfg. I was in flip style shanty in open wind with I thought was plenty of air but was way wrong! I was barely able to make it to shore with gear in tow. sat in truck till I could see and move again. be carefull. I now have heard from many that they carry battery operated co2 units with spare batterys in their safety gear.

fished resthaven yesterday noon till 5 or so. drilled many holes, thanks to fellow member lima area who sold me great stingray, all in 9 ft water or so. used minnows and large maggots to no avail. tight lipped fish. tried brush cover, dock area, mid lake and near shore. different rigs to. roadways poorly plowed and quite a lot of snow on lake surface. others joined me after they were skunked out at east harbor. gear I btg from fellow members all worked as stated by same. thanks!

helloo, don't know who the guys were who drilled my holes do to me not sharping my hand augers but thanks. ahhh youth huh! can a smaller snowthrower be used on resthaven? maybe a light model? would running a couple of paths to my shanty kinda lead fish towards hole? seems the fish follow the light so to speak. just musing I guess.

fyi  there will be a ice breaker in west basin lake erie on Monday jan 20th. I understand its to free up ice to move construction items from mainland to one of the islands. will be likely used ahead of a ferry or transport barge. likely disrupt ice near islands .

hello, was on ice at resthaven, castalia. today. ice thick .south pond no luck. north pond better, deeper maybe. went to east harbor and zero folks there.went to state park access in catawba and lots of folks on quads and snowmobiles, also saw folks being checked so play safe and by the rules, shakedown trip for me to check gear etc. thanks for all the help and items folks you have helped me with. I saw a couple of folks today with the most gear ive ever saw on a quad. est wtght at about 800lbs to 1000lbs! with 2 riders and gear. pretty small footprint for that much wtg. no sled either just all tied on to quad. airboats were active too.
