General Discussion / Tons of ice but slow season????

Am I the only one that has struggled with numbers? I have fished around 10 different lakes, all of which were at known hot spots, and very poor numbers over all. Still had a couple 50 + days but over all poor numbers???? Maybe the weather and too many High Pressure Systems? CHOMP

CAught 6 bass, one red ear and 3 dink perch. Fished both sides in between rain. SLOW!!!! Good thing is the ice is still plenty hard and only pitted about an inch. Going to refreeze tonight too!

Stayed out to 11:30. Got maybe 40 good ones and let go another 20. in 6 feet. Talked to guys fishing in 8 and they seemed to be having less luck. BTW, I think the ice will be fine from the warm up

General Discussion / Looks GREAT here in Summit County!
« on: January 06, 2014, 08:01:44 AM »
As I was checking my snow plow sites I noticed no more than an inch of snow and most everything just a dusting. Also, the ground froze rock hard down deep. I was spud barring it and it froze down over 2 inches already. Think the "Major Storm" was a blessing! and now -14   ;D BTW slow bite yesterday at Wallace Lake in Barea. Got one golden trout and one dink. Ice was shitty but I'm lite

Small Pond Reports / Snow to slush to 6" Portage Co
« on: January 03, 2014, 11:40:20 AM »
Checked a local 50 acre private lake that remained frozen through the last thaw. Went out cautiously about 50 feet spudding the whole way. Drilled a few holes. Some holes still slush ice pancake over 1 1/2 clear. Some areas frozen solid to 6". That slush pancake will easily freeze over night. BTW, only a dusting of snow on top. The snow turned to slush then froze. Also checked Brady Lake in Portage County. Walked out until the spud went through first hit. Maybe 25 feet. Same thing, little snow on top but the ice was UNSAFE and mostly slush. At the Point

Mogadore Reservoir / there yesterday off Palm and Congress
« on: December 17, 2013, 08:56:33 AM »
My opinion is dont mess with Palm. Congress, on the side that freezes up first going shallower, was about 4 1/2 with a lot of pops and cracks. Got one perch and a gill in 3 hours so we left to go to a different lake. Saw guys in the cove on the other side too. Not sure how safe

Been snooping. It's safe to walk on for sure! Going today. Lot's of action! Caught even big carp and theres always a chance for a northern. Mostly small gills, crappie and white perch, chubs, river critters. Public. Walk DOWN stream the bike and hike trail from the park in Monroe Falls on the river. Anyone else ever fish it??? Close to Gone Fishing in Cuyahoga Falls
