Wapakdawg, with me being from ST Marys don't know if I should help you or not. JK. Sorry but I haven't been to Black Hawk this year. Always fish either Aschesons or Long Island. WIsh I could help you more, I know you always post your results and are very helpful. I will say we have been doing good in the reserve. The channel on the eastside of Pony Island, about 1/4 mile in the reserve. Mostly gills and eyes. Small ice jigs tipped with spikes. Spikes outfish waxies 4 to 1. Good luck, if I don't go to Erie Sunday then I'm headed to Indian.

g, when you say deadsticking a rap, you just lower it down until its almost on bottom and just leave it hanging? Do you jig it at all? Any specific size? Thanks for the info.

fish, best place to start out is the Long Island area. You can get eyes, crappies, gill sand the occasional perch. Just look for the crowds, with the wind Sat. the crowds willl be small so parking shouldn't be a problem. You can park at a parking lot right before you cross a bridge.

Headed to Camp Perry on Sunday, first time there this year. Any tips on baits, depth or how far to go will really be helpful. We will be on a snowmobile.

We fished all day Saturday and ended up with some nice crappies and eyes. Caught the eyes on gold pimples and gold vibees. Biggest eye was abou 3.5 pounds and full of eggs. The crappies we had to downsize and just go with an ice jig tipped with a spike. If we used wax worms we couldn't buy a bite. Wouldn't think it would matter but it did. Caught most of the crappie around 2-3 pm.

Buckeye lake / Re: Wanting to fish buckeye saturday

I was on Buckeye last night off of Fairfield beach and ice is about 8-10 everywhere I went. There is no snow on the ice and it is slippery as heck. I did see a 4 wheeler go all over the lake, he had chains on his tires. Fishing was slow. Drilled amybe 10 holes from 5' to 11' before I even marked a fish. Started marking them near the marsh in 7'. Lot of lookers. DId get into some nice crappies. Would have a mark about 3-4' and bring pimple up to them and they would hit it. Only a few small eyes.

About ten of us are headed to St Clair next week. Just wondering of anyone else has made the trip up and how's the fishing? Probably put in at Ginos.

Good job on the eyes, but I count 9 lol. We were there Sunday and caught around 10-15 eyes but they all were under 15". Just a few panfish. Hoping to hit it Sunday again.
