Title: Pre ice fishing season Dock Tourney
Post by: Evinrude58 on August 09, 2016, 01:31:19 PM
Shouldn't we be starting the pre season dock tourneys soon? Like maybe in next couple weeks.

They don't start until Nov. The boats are supposed to be removed by Oct. 31 and people can start fishing the docks on Nov.1.

We found out that they are removing the marina docks to install new floating docks. We are working on securing another spot. We will keep you posted.

I remember the fishing biting real well during last year's tourneys. Problem was there were never more than 12 fish in the lake at a time.

Any word on the sailboat marina at alum? There are docks with deeper water at the O'shaunessy sailboat marina also. Neither location run by the state.

I sent them an email and will call them again. Please let me do the calling as we don't want to have numerous people calling. The boats are out now and a few crappies and small saugeye's are biting.

Hi Guys,

I left a voicemail again at the state park and sail boat club today about getting access to Delaware docks or the Sail club.

I will keep you posted.

Sorry Guys,

They have not responded yet to my calls or email. This is not unusual as this happened a few years ago. I will keep trying.

Ok Guys,

Bad news. The sailboat club is now running aerators to keep the docks safe and will have electrical cords on top of the docks so for safety reason we can not get access.

The only place that has docks is Rocky fork. I don't know much about them and it is a haul. I would not mind to have a get together tournament. There is also CJ brown that we could try but the fish seem small.

If someone knows more about the docks give me a call at 614-361-5548.

Another Idea is to have a boat tournament but fish vertically.

Doesn't Delaware have docks or do they pull them for the winter?

Delaware does have docks. Crappies and cats. Was fishing from boat there last night. There are some big crappies in that lake. They shocked the marina a few years back, and the ranger said that he was amazed at the size of the crappies that were around that marina. I fished the docks a few times and didn't get any monster crappies, but I did catch them. I think that it's a good option, but not sure why we aren't pursuing it.

CJ has a lot of crappie, but mostly short very few walleye got off the docks. Rocky has more docks and has crappie & saugeye. We could try one lake and try the other 2 weeks after to see what most guys think.

More than likely I will see you at both lakes Rusty. I will probably try Rocky next Sat. morning. Have to work Fri. night so I won't get there until 9 or 10.
