Can't wait for this! It will be great seeing everyone again! I haven't done a lot of soft water fishing this year due to a house move. It will be good to get back fishing again!

So bummed I won't be able to fish these tournaments this year, I'm having shoulder surgery this coming Tuesday (Oct. 24th). Good luck to everyone and hopefully I'll see everyone at the Expo

What kind of surgery?  Rotator cuff?  I so you should only miss the first one or 2. I finished 110 yards of concrete with one arm in a sling by myself 10 days after a rotator cuff surgery. Just have to do it one handed. As long as you don’t have to drill any holes off the end of the dock.

You can always come out and give use moral support. Setting at home is boring.

Seem to remember one being canceled due to very high winds like gusts of 50mph but I could be mistaken that may have been another tourney.

I know myself and Tin Guppy planning on being there to donate... seems like a strong tradition and someone will be upset If we do not show or at least send our money in for others to enjoy...LOL
See you guys Saturday, I hope Dave is there to remind folks of the Vertical only rules and no STROLLING, folks seem to like to push that one a lot.

What is Strolling? Walking around while your line is still in the water?

I believe that's what he's talking about. I think as long as you're pulling up between drops in a new spot there no breech in the vertical presentation protocol. Dragging your lure around might as well just be a horizontal cast.

That's what I figured, just wanted to clarify. First dock tourney, don't want to be breaking any rules.

Only 90 hours till first dock tourney. YAY! Gear is ready to go. Of course it has been ready since at least the beginning of September.

Stupid question. When you catch something, do you need a basket to keep it in till weigh in? Or do we weigh as we go? And is this ice fishing gear, lures only or can people show up and throw crank baits etc?

Post by: Evinrude58 on November 01, 2017, 07:23:17 PM
You will need a bucket, stringer or basket as we weigh everything at 3pm. As to gear you can use regular rods and gear just all fishing must be done using a vertical presentation. Basically you pretend you drilled a hole in the ice.

Keep your fish in a bucket or on a stringer until weigh-in. Casting is not permitted, but long rods may be used. I have extra short rods and Vexilars if you'd like to try out some equipment.

Looks like I will make it. Looking forward to giving it a shot. Question for locals. I'll come up 270 to 23N and take that to lewis center dr. Any good places to grab breakfast close? Not familiar with the area so I don't want to get off the path to far.

That's why I'm fishing the tournament. Tough bite. I've only been doing this , this is my 5th year. Last two I only got to go out twice each year and first year I only got out a few and learn the basics. So I figure I got two good years of good ice fishing. I want the tough bite and figure out my way to catch fish in these conditions and pressure of a tournament is a good way to challenge myself. Two hour drive but looking forward to it. Plus I love fishing in the cold. As I say, I was born on a cold day in January. LMAO
