North end has 4" of ice last night.  Got there after dark and got skunked.  Be careful if you want to wander out toward the south center of the lake.  We started out and found shifted ice sheets that overlap and refreeze and decided to stay closer to the North end.

Rumi, what kind of adapter did you get for the drill and auger?

Went out with my son at 7pm and fished till 10.  Got 9 keeper crappie with 2 over 11 inches.  All on pink jig and glow plastic.  Saw those big holes going out and we made sure we follow our tracks walking back to shore.  I believe we are done for the year.  Don't want to push our luck.

You left too early.  We only caught an occasion pencil perch here and there until after dark, then the suspended crappie start hitting hard till 9:30pm.  We ended up with 17 keepers and released/missed about 1 dozen of so.  I was fishing with my son and his friend.

Do we have to plank to get on the ice yet?  I am thinking of heading over tonight for one last time.

I believe you are right about the daytime crappie bite.  Fished C-1 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm and all I got was 1 under size crappie.  Usually do pretty good during that time span.

Any predictions on how long the ice will last.  Suppose to be 40s and 50s all next week.

Not going to lie, it sucked going out.  The rain knocked down some of the snow coming back, but it still sucked.  I would say 8" of slop.  I try to follow someone else's footprints and it was still a bear.  I might try it again tonight before the big freeze gets here.

Fished 6-9pm.  Caught 12, only 7 keeper crappie.  2 on minnies, rest on wax worms.  No luck on plastics.  I need to learn how to fish plastics from holehopper someday so I don't have to drag a minnow bucket around.

Meet the nicest folks on the ice.  Last night, one guy that was fishing around 50 yards from me offer to let me use his shanty while he has to go home for an emergency.  I met another guy at the parking lot as I was leaving and he was just getting started and we BS for quite a while.  I guess not having to worry about shoreline space or boats ramming each other just mellows everybody out.

Find some deep water over 15 feet.  It seems like the time is more important than the place.  I find it best early in the morning till 10 or so and 3 till dark is best for perch.  You have to weed out lots of small ones, but there are some nice ones out there.  Caught them on both minnows and waxworms.  Just my 2 cents.

Would love to, but still getting over a cold I caught from being out Sunday evening.  Will be taking a newbie out fishing Friday evening after work.  He is all excited about going and driving me nuts at work all week.

Spring time I like to use Gulp Alive minnows, but it does not seem to work as well in the ice.

my bud and myself tried for some cats no luck, dink perch only, looks like snowcone has the lock on them, since we were there we set up for crappie, fished till 9 pm.ended up with a nice mess,no monsters, just legals,or slightly better,10 or so throw backs, and the usual lost at the hole,we"ve all been there.#8 jig, trigger x minnow,10 foot near shore. :-\
What color jig and minnow combination do you prefer?
