Post by: Salmonid on October 31, 2013, 01:50:00 PM
anyone have these, I just picked up a pair of the cheaper ones ( $39 each but on sale for 10% off from Reeds) and wondered what folks thought about them

Thanks

I got one last year , put some 5lb power pro blue on it, I like it , once you get used to the 1 to 1 retrieve , I think I will get some crappy reels at wally mart , they are cheap and look like they would work good for about 10 bucks.... ;D

Well depends what your expectations for the reel are. Its a 1.1 pickup which will work fine for shallow ( 20ft or less) water pan fishing.
picked up a set recently to pair with a set of Bricker Custom UL wedding rods.

I picked up an UL combo last year and am very happy with it.  The reel is very well built and performed flawlessly.  I can see where in deeper water you may want something with a bigger gear ratio to get your line up quicker.  That's where the 6061 comes in.
