I saw 2 pictures of 10-11lb eyes taken from Indy this year, when I wanted to show some friends I couldn't find where they are posted. Did anybody else see them?

Indian Lake / Re: SKUNKED
« on: January 12, 2010, 03:01:45 PM »
I was at the lake sunday we as a group had a real good day,  a limit wed, four thurs , limit friday didnt fish sat, sunday I had four and a limit mon. I can tell you this for sure , the bit is very very short lived color and size is very important. I have a vexilar and I see the eyes follow the bait and seem to want the bait dead sticked or with very little movement. My best colors have been hot pink and yellow and orange. Seen alot of sad faces coming off the ice the same days we had fish. wanted to fish Tuesday but had a little accident  >:(. The bite might only last 20min to half hour at the most. Early was good Mon , Mon night buddies fish my same holes zero, the other days was 4-5pm. Good luck

This goes out to the hog who shit in the bucket sat night -sun morning at oconners and left it out for eveyone else to see. You are the man, you are the greatest , the best , the butterfly and the bee, you have to be one of the funniest person to hang out with, your got to be a real crowd pleaser. But if you want the truth from me and the others who saw it I think you're white trash , a trailer court slum dog who must be used to shittin in a bucket at home cause his water lines are froze and you wont get off your lazy ass to thaw them out so you shit in the bucket and throw it out your back door for you neighbor to see. But I want to thank Shawn (dont know your last name) for having the stomach to clean it up and to even clean out the bucket and take it with him, I couldn't, Thanks ,I dont think we can take too many more screwballs ice fishing before we lose this spot.

You can but there are a few and I mean very few places at Oconners, but if the guys who keep shittin in a bucket and leaving it behind keep coming around we wont have a place to park. You have to plan your day around parking right now, I get there at 6-6:30 in the morning during the week and on the weekends I get there @ 5-5:30

General Discussion / The eyes are on the move
« on: January 12, 2010, 12:53:28 AM »
Went to the lake today ,(mon) the 11th got there around 6:30 - 7am. Drilled 2 holes sat on em for about 10-15 min when the eyes started to hit, within 20 min had 5 and about an hour later got the 6th. Hot pink 3/16 was the hot color, tried only a few different colors cause the bite was fast when they came in and dead sea when they went out. Talked to a buddy of mine who fished the same area in the evening from 2:30 till dark they caught 1 eye and 1 catfish. The ones I caught in the morning 4 were in the 2-3lb the other 2 were 1-1.5 range. Wanted to take pictures but my best fishing buddy is on the recovery so instead of going home I dropped by his house and gave him and his wife some goood eatin, @73 his best fishing days are behind him.

Indy is doing pretty good, I got a limit wed ,4 thursday and a limit friday, Didn't fish sat but went Sunday ,caught 10 but only kept 3. The bite is very short lived, maybe an hour at the most and mainly in the evening. I have a vexilar and when the bait fish move in the eyes do follow. Size and color had mattered very much so. Orange and yellow has been the best 3/16 once, and hot pink did well for me today. I fished Oconners Sun and most of the people in the shanties zeroed out, they were probally a little too close to each other and alot of moving around, they were only in 4-6 ft of water where I was in the 8-10ft range. Good Luck

Wow , I just fished the weekend at several different spots and when I came up to Oconners I thought that the people in the houses moved into shanties, there must have been 40 or more shanties set up. With that being said please guys and gals remember we are visitors on the lake and we should repect the people who live there, I have a co-worker who lives on Long Island and he has told me several times that those people who live there try harder and harder every year to block us from parking along side the road. The main reason is the trash , human waste and dead fish we leave behind I know I preach this subject in most of my post but if we dont police ourselves the law will and i dont think we can win that battle. I'm sure that who ever shit in the bucket again this year at Oconners thinks it's funny but when we lose that area who is going to laugh last?

Have you ever given the thought that maybe just maybe they fished that area the day or two before and the dad wanted to have his kid catch some fish. I  have 3 girls and I take them out at least 2-3 times a year each. The problem I run into is not the hole jumpimg but the foul language and the guys who piss in front of my kids. That is why we never go on weekends and we try to avoid the pack. We as in my 3 girls have had some real jerks come up and fish by us,I fished Oconners today (Sun) and some dumb ass shit in a bucket again this year and left it in the walking path for all of us to see. We all know humans must go to the bathroom but hae repect for yourself and others to dispose of your waste.

the area is around pony island. its a good walk from parking. Thats the problem why i didnt want to tell. I have to get there when eveyone else is leaving at lunch time just have a parking spot for the evening bite. I haven't been able to find a good panfish area to kill time while I wait for the eyes to move in. Unlike Dunns and other areas they move in and out so fast here you got to be there from 3-dark just to be safe.

Fished indy yesterday in the snow and today, did real good on the eyes but only with one color. I fished 1 hole with the same color for 2 days and in the other hole i tried sweedish pimples to every size and color vib e I have, the other hole out fished the change 8 to 1 caught 4 saugeyes both days (biggest one pushed 5lbs) on the average the others were 17-18 inches. The color you ask, its the one the dont have any more of , just kidding yellow and orange in any combo. Where I cant tell, I will tell this the eye bite on both days only last about 45 min in the evening when they shut off its over. Saw the bait fish move in with the aid of the vex and the eyes followed, when they moved out nothing and I mean nothing. during the bite 1 guy had a double on and a guy right in front of him had 1 on. Good luck!

General Discussion / BIG BIG Saugeye
« on: January 07, 2010, 04:16:44 AM »
Just wanted to get your attention on this subject. I was fishing earlier today (3rd shifter) ,saw a guy snag a good size saugeye in the belly of the fish, it was very obvious even to the blind, he kept the fish and  even went on to show a few guys his trophy, blood still coming from the hook site, now as a true sportsman to this, do you and are you supposed to keep it or release it. I' ve been on the release side  and seeing how this is a fine on the maumee river I think this is what we should practice.

Well its time for the sleds to start buzzing us again, with the snow coming so will they. I know there is plenty of room on the lake but for some unknown reason they always seem to want to be where we are fishing. Wouldn't bother me so much if they would just slow down. I know as with all things in life it's not all that are bad but the bad ones leave the sour taste in your mouth. Two or 3yrs ago I was fishing in blackhawk, sleds were buzzing by us all day and into the evening, couple of guys built a snow fort on the ice to block them and also drilled a bunch of holes in the ice and stuck huge limbs in them, the next day the park rangers was out there trying to find out who done it. They never found out but did say theyv(the sleds ) do have a speed limit limit on them while in the channels. I dont know what the limit is or how they would enforce it . Enjoy the lake with respect!

Coming a long way to fish I'd spend the night, fish for 2days. If you map quest Indian Lake look for 117 this will take you to long Island ,drive back about a mile or so and you will see cars parked on both sides of the road, on the average if you fish on the north side of the rd you will be pan fishing, south nside of the road with a good walk you can fish both pan and saugeye. South side will put you on the north fork river. this has produced good saugeye bites in the past. Vibe 'e' works good and so does the sweedish pimple. Go early and stay late, saugeyes tend to slow off by 10 am and pick back up 3pm -dark.  My go to bait is the red vibe e , good luck!
