I had a chance to fish St Claire this summer. Would really like to try it on the ice. We did pretty decent for the middle of July. Limited on eyes every day. Mostly on the St Claire river. Only ice fishing last year was on Sturgeon bay and Little Green Lake in Wisconsin.

Funny now, but what an alarming situation. If by chance anyone gets a barbed hook of any type stuck in them, the best thing to do is to push the hook through so that the barbed end comes through the skin. At that point, cut off the barb, and the hook will slide out from the direction that it entered with minimal damage. I saw this firsthand when I lived in Florida, and my son's friend hooked him in the tendon behind the knee. The hook will undoubtedly do much more damage if you attempt to pull it out from the same direction it went in if the hook is buried. Just goes to show, there's definitely no IQ requirement to fish.

Welcome to the site ML. I'm heading out to Erie tomorrow. Was told to have some good muck boots. It's a little messy with about three inches of water due to this warm weather. Not sure exactly where we're heading out to. As we are going out with a guide. He said that the ice is still very good. Looking forward to my first ice trip on Erie. If you PM me, I'll try to give you some info before Sunday.

I love fishing buckeye. Enjoy seeing crv throwing them on the ice. I'm certainly learning. Only wish the lake was closer. Definitely worth the drive though. Wish alum was half as good.

Does anyone know where you can get replacement auger covers? Mine is cracked, and I have a hard time keeping it from falling of.

I had the little buddy heater. Not worth a crap. Propane can doesn't fit well in holder. Go figure. Purchased the Mr Buddy, and works very well in my clam Yukon.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to make it up from Dublin, but I heard that it was quite a success. Great to hear that you brought your son and the experience was good. Always good to let others with young ones know that they can still enjoy the fishing with their son or daughter during the winter.

I purchased my first flasher last year. It was a Marcum vx1 pro, and I have enjoyed its usefulness. I think whichever one you choose, it is a matter of personal preference. However, after seeing Dave's upgraded vexilar, I have a good idea what my next flasher will :o be. I was amazed by the color distinction and the zoom.

I agree with all who have spoken out for the Pfleuger president. I purchased one over the summer at Fin Feather and Fur. The sales staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. For the money, it's a quality reel for both larger saugeye and panfish.
