The only lake I have ice fished in Ohio is mosquito lake
I have fished a small farm pond in Michigan once
Also my uncle owns a lake in PA it's an old coal strip mine but have never fished it on ice

The lake is between mercer and Franklin PA
Not sure how thick the ice gets
I do know that the lake is spring fed and when I do fish it in the spring summer and fall you can see at least 15-20 feet down in the water
It holds gills, crappie, perch, large mouth, and pike
Thank you everyone for the great welcome to the site

Make sure you are using a spud when walking around on those spring fed lakes and ponds and any other lake as well. You can be on 8 inchs of good ice and hit a spot where the spring is and go thru if it didnt freeze well. Those springs can be dangerous.

Thank you for the warning
Being a large man I don't venture on ice unless I know it's at least 6-8 inches
What type of spud bar are you talking about

I use one like in the link below. There is several different makes and models on the market. Just google ice fishing chisel. You can also use a construction spud bar or breaker bar. I just dont like the construction ones because they are to heavy to be carrying around all day. When Im walking on the ice I will hit the ice in the same spot 2-3 times every 3 or 4 steps. If it doesnt go thru the ice you should be good to go. I have never gone thru the ice when I spudded my way around and I am a large man myself. It definitly beats stopping to drill a hole every 50 feet and its a lot safer because you are not traveling that far with out testing the ice.
