Mosquito Creek Reservoir / Re: LOST SHANTY

That's pretty screwed up that someone took his shanty. I hope he gets it back. We will all have to keep a look out for it because it could show up on any lake.

A Mosquito tourny would be great. How much is the entry fee?

I know that Indian is about 3 hrs from me and the fishing isn't that great here for me to drive that far. We have been having a better season then the last several have been though. If you do want to come out some time let me know and I can show you a few decent spots that we have found.

I got to fish today with my wife. We caught about 40 bluegill and 1 nice crappie. The ice was 5 inchs. Lots of slush and water on the ice. If you go just be careful.

Ice Safety!!! / Bad Ice Be Careful

With the warmer weather be have been getting and with more to come I just have to say be careful. I know that where I fish the snow is melting and some parts of the main lake are starting to reopen up. Just remember no ice is safe ice.

Fished back in the campground today. The ice was 6 inch's where I was. Over by the c-6 lot the ice is not safe as it is starting to open back up. I caught about 15 keeper bluegill and 1 crappie.

Bait and Tackle stores / Mogadore Bait and Tackle

These guys are always very friendly and helpful. The don't have alot of ice fishing stuff but they do the essentials. There bait prices are very reasonable and if your going to fish Mogadore they are the only shop around.

I prefer the baitcast style. I fish in a lot of shallow water and I just pull the fish up by hand. They are small and dont get tangled as much as spinning reels do in my bucket. Now when i fish deep water I use my spinning reels.

I was out fishing today and I got to thinking about the different types of ice fishing reels there are. I was wondering which you all prefered.

Mogadore Reservoir / Ice report
« on: January 13, 2010, 06:56:18 PM »
I fished off the east side of Congress Lake Rd. from 1 pm to 530 pm. I was 2/3 of the way to the duck blind from the launch ramp right in the middle. I was fishing a foot off the bottom in 9 ft. of water. I was using a small green/white/orange jig tipped with maggots. I caught 13 LM bass most being under 12 inch's with 2 of them being 17 inch's. I also caught 2 dozen keeper gills 3 nice perch and 8 crappies over 10 inch's. It was seriously a stand up afternoon. I wish I could find my camera cable to take a picture of this jig because I caught every fish on it. The fished seemed to like it when I jigged it up and down only about 2 inch's at a medium speed on and off for about 5 seconds. Any other way I jigged they would not bite. If you want to go out I can go just about anytime just let me know.

I went out this morning from 8 am until noon. I started back in the campground and only caught a dozen gills and 1 really nice perch. I then moved over to the c-6/ launch ramp and only caught a few small gills. If you go to the c-6 please be very careful. Just past the mouth of the bay it goes from 5 inch's to 1 inch real quick.

I also think its a great idea. I have noticed some off the places I fish the the numbers and sizes are down from 10 years ago. Its the same with the perch also. I am all for helping bring back the numbers and size to where they were when I was a kid so when my son gets a little older he can have just as memorable fishing trips as I had.
