My favorite time of the year (when the water is soft) for catching walleye! Nothing beats the feeling of a slow retrieving crank of your lure...then WHACK!...a 6+ lb walleye is fighting for dear life!
Cold nights, fish frys, crumpling leaves under your feet...does it get any better than fall?
My good friend that always shore fished with me passed this summer, if anyone want to join me, please don't hesitate to ask. Fishing is more fun when you have a buddy to talk to.

Excellent sugestion dave sure would love an ifo outing to erie hope it works out for us this year with jumpy to,come on ice

yes its just about that time ;D I was out perch fishin sun north of Gordon park....wow bumpy ride... :P im in just shout out ....even as we speak the steelhead are cruising the walls , and its on woohooooo :D ;D 8)

An IFO outing is a damn good idea!
How many would be interested in doing this?
Details:
I can pick anyone up at the ferry dock and drive everyone around so no need to bring your vehicle to the island.
Fall shore fishing is done at night, so this will HAVE to be an overnight trip.
Lodging...my wife rents condos on the island, providing she can hold off having one or two units winterized, she can hook everyone up with a rock bottom rate.
Option two is my living room floor, bring an air mattress!
I'm thinking first weekend in November.
Weather is normally never a factor, as long as it's not a gale force noreaster...we can fish!

Sounds like a great plan.
I have a trip to a bass championship in november so i have to see what my budget looks like.
Keep us posted on the room rent for the night.
Looks like we could get something going. Hope I have the money!

Sounds pretty good Bryan. First week in Nov seems a little for the fishing to be REALLY good? Maybe just like that on the mainland?

I don't know Jonny, I've caught fish all through November. One day we'd tear them up, next day not a bite...guess that's why they call it fishing! LOL!

Also, I'm open for any weekend in November, so if the majority wants a alternative weekend I'm game!
This will be a cheap trip, ferry tickets are $8.50 per person each way. I have a feeling the condos will be closed for winter so lets plan on bringing a sleeping bag and camp on my living room floor. BYOB and some grub like burgers and hot dogs for supper.

I went perching Sat and it was pretty good. Didn't go Sun but the word was it was VERY slow.

We started catching them from shore here on St. Clair a few weeks ago and with this cold front it just now getting good. The shore fishing isn't has good as Erie but we also get a nice mix of Smallies , Pike and Muskie on top of the eyes when we go out.

Some of my bass buddies fished Kelly's on Sunday and caught 30 smallies and hit two big walleyes on vibe's. The biggest was 11 pounds.
