Good job Ketchum!  A 26" saugeye is a monster.  Some upgrounds are more complicated than others to say the least.  If you are getting saugeye, i might be able to guess which one you are fishing if you are staying somewhat close to home.  I have never made it that far East but keep thinking i need to try it.  Still trying to decide where i am going to fish this weekend.  I am hoping to get out tonight to try Willard for walleye after dark.  Could be interesting.

I haven't made it to Willard yet but deff plan on it. I know theirs some nice walleye in there. Idk if they keep the same habits in winter as the summer but I've caught them from the bank just before dark. I think they cruise the bank line eating bait fish each evening. That was my thought when I caught the saugeye yesterday. Drilled holes in a zigzag bout 15feet out down the bank line. Hand auger gave me a workout lol deff getting an electric one for next season. Wish I could find live minnows without driving an hour to getm. I was using a pink Swedish pimple tip with spikes and all 3 smashed it. Pretty exciting watchn it on the flasher race up to my lure and wham fish on

Between work and moving to new house all month. I've managed to get out on a local upground res 4or5 evenings this season. At first I thought I'd just be wasting my time hearing how hard they are to ice fish and it being only my 2nd season on the ice. With that being said...... I have caught 6-10 keeper croppie every time I went not counting the dinks I throw back and yesterday I caught my first saugeye threw the ice and pb 26 1/2 in. Had 2 others on and lost them at the hole. If I knew how to upload pics from my phone id post some. Should be all moved in this weekend and I plan on hitn it as much as mother nature allows!

Atticafish your not to far from me. I live right outside Greenwich. I only tried ice fishing Willard once last year and didn't do so well. Ice was lil sketchy I didn't move around much plus I didn't really know anything bout ice fishing just drop a jig in hole with wax worm and jiggle it lol.  Im alil more educated this year and armed with a flasher. I have a cousin that lives right down the street keeping an eye on the ice for me. I'll deff try get ahold of ya when it gets goin here hopefully soon

Turkey09....id deff be game to tag along sometime. You could prolly teach me a few things more than Utube lol.  Time is gonna be my crushers. I'll be outta state until new years and I just bought another house and will be moving when we get back. I still plan on getting out as much as possible but mid or end January I'll have plenty of time. I work in Shelby and get off 230pm.
Strongpersuader... they still have decent perch and eyes in Willard. Nothing spectacular but they are still in there. I mainly catfish that place in t the summer but that's just me.

Green Pea....a float suit is deff on my list!!! I've been looking at them but havent decided which yet. Striker was nice I saw but frabill was cheap lol I just ordered a shappell fx100 should be here next week. Everything I've read up on them sounds like it'll be perfect for my style fishing and the price. I can deal with what cons I have read about. Light weight, portable, enough room for my gear. Spent all last winter hole hopping on a bucket packing what gear i did have. I wont know how to act having it all in a sled and a shelter to flop over on those cold windy days.

Reveiws, tips tricks ect ect. I have alot of friends that i hunt and fish with but none that ice fish.kinda goin at it alone. Most think im crazy but I can't wait for some ice!!!

Kinda new to the forum and ice fishing as well. Last year was my 1st season on the ice. Only fished a few ponds with cheap Wal-Mart special ice combo and hand auger to try it out. Now I'm hooked and looking forward to this year's season as I'm in the process of upgrading and accumulating better equipment. I've recently purchased eagle claw inline reel with a frabill bro series quick tip, couple tip-ups, ice chisel, and a vexilar. Possibly a cheaper shanty and sled in the near future and im sure few more rods n reels lol. Hopefully this season I can get out on some lakes and res to fish with the big boys  :) I live kinda in the middle of new london,Willard and Shelby res. I plan on hitting these and charles mill and clearfork this season. I'll probably be asking a few dumb questions on here but I won't be trolling for your secret spots. Maybe some bait and tackle opinions with some ice reports. Thanks in advance for any and all help
