Anybody tried the refuge in the deep holes??
« on: December 21, 2010, 07:05:52 PM »

Just wandering if anybody has tried the coves in the refuge where it is deep @ the backs of them. The ones in the east west channels. Did really well all fall in them on crappie and just wandered if the crappie would winter there or if they would move out.

Back in the game refuge. If you come in from Achesons, than take a right @ the first channel than a left at the next channel(only goes left.) Than there is a cove on your right hand side and down a little farther on your left hand side. After that you would run into the north channel. The backs of those coves are fairly deep and hold alot of crappie in the fall. Just wandered if they would stay there or come back out to the main lake during the winter?

Ever try the area out by the Walnut Islands? We fished that back in the mid 90's and had some pretty good days.

Jiggin, I know where you are talking about. I do good in the spring and fall there but fished them a couple times in the winter and never really did very well. At the mouth of them I do good near the trees.
