Buckeye lake / caught something better than a fish
« on: February 14, 2014, 01:16:07 AM »
like an amateur I left my rod on the ice while I went out to pick up more bait as one would expect I came back and the rod was gone! normally it's not a huge deal but all together the combo was 300 dollars and it was my buddies! man did I feel like a dumby. luckily Doug was there and graciously helped without hesitation. without his under water camera and help drilling holes I would have never found it! I snagged it with a vibe and pulled it out of the muck and silt and on the other end a catfish man oh man did I want to punt it ha but I let him swim away. I thought the story was funny and lucky my friend on the other hand... not so much. I want to stress the fact that I would use never retrieved it had it not been for Doug! thanks again

Buckeye lake / saugeye vs bluegill
« on: February 03, 2014, 03:28:06 AM »
the saugeye seem to be chasing blue Gil's I got a chance to watch an underwater camera and everytime you would see a Gil a saugeye would be right on his butt! I also filleted a 22" eye that had a 5" Gil in her belly! it's pretty awesome. I might try a blue Gil on a tip up Tuesday morning :) thought I would share this because I found it interesting

Buckeye lake / buckeye Fairfield 1-20
« on: January 21, 2014, 08:17:14 PM »
I went out yesterday to try to venture out to deeper water in between the ice house and marsh but I just fished the point with the crowd given that it looked sketchy at best and I was alone but I'll be venturing out Thursday we should be set to go back to the depths of buckeye once again judging by the temps we are getting and slight snow cover... I was sitting in 4.5 feet of water on 4" of ice marked lots of fish but no takers only had one seperate from the bottom to glance at my lure. I can't wait to sit on 8-9 feet of water again we tore it up before the darn warm up! hope to see some of you out Thursday.

Buckeye lake / weekend
« on: January 09, 2013, 12:24:02 PM »
This weekend was pretty good for me caught a total of 6 saugeye was fishing in only 5 ft of water so the window of opportunity to catch them was small had to wait til 430 pm but it came fast and furious when it did. I fished monday and it was still 3.5" of clear ice any idea to how it would be today?.. specifically speaking of the point next to fairfield beach I would think after today and yesterday it would be a sloshy mess but is it still safe looking to get out from 3 to 8 pm
